A system and method to promote biological responses within incubated eggs using lighting devices within an incubation chamber. A light supporting device is installed within the incubation chamber in spaced relation to an incubation device housing a plurality of eggs. The light supporting device is positioned to direct light at pre-determined wavelengths into the interior cavity of the incubation device to irradiate the plurality of eggs to promote a biological response within the eggs.

Systems and methods for promoting biological responses in incubated eggs

The sex of embryos in eggs is influenced or controlled through the application of light having selected wavelengths in order to promote the development of embryos of a selected sex. An incubating device is provided having an interior cavity that can be sealed from an outside, and having a plurality of lighting elements in the interior cavity. Eggs are disposed in the interior cavity, and pre-determined environmental conditions are applied to the interior cavity to promote hatching of the eggs. Concurrently with the application of the environmental conditions, the eggs are irradiated according to pre-determined lighting conditions. The lighting conditions include applying light having wavelengths substantially concentrated in selected ranges, such as light wavelengths within the 440-460 nm, or other narrow range.

Methods for controlling sex of oviparous embryos using light sources

A method of stimulating plant growth in a controlled environment that includes providing a lighting assembly having a network of lighting elements such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) that provide light at a color tailored for an individual plant. The lighting assembly is positioned adjacent a plant such that the light produced is received by the plant. The lighting assembly additionally has a control assembly that includes driving circuitry that modulates the lighting elements to controllably provide predetermined periods of light and dark to stimulate continuous growth of the plant.

Lighting assemblies that provide spectrum specific underwater lighting to aquatic life. Each assembly has a vessel that receives a substrate secured to a heatsink and is enclosed by an end cap that provides a water tight seal. The end cap is sealingly secured to the vessel by a sealing element and has opening disposed therethrough for receiving an electrical connector that electrically connects lighting elements on the substrate to an exterior power source. The connector is sealingly disposed through the opening in the end cap to prevent the ingress of water within the vessel.

Method and system for an electronically adaptive photometry for roadway lighting

An article of manufacture comprises a thin film solid state lighting device, such as an organic light emitting diode (OLED) device, having a planar light emitting side and an opposite planar mounting side and including electrodes disposed on the planar mounting side of the thin film solid state lighting device, the electrodes including a magnetic material configured to conductively convey electrical drive current to drive the thin film solid state lighting device to emit light at the planar light emitting principal side. The article of manufacture may further comprise a fixture having a planar surface with magnets arranged to mate with the electrodes to magnetically secure the thin film solid state lighting device with the fixture and to concurrently form electrically conductive paths including the magnetic material of the electrodes configured to conductively convey electrical drive current. Thus this magnetic connection provides both mechanical support and electrical conduction path.

OLED lighting devices including electrodes with magnetic material

A knowledge-based driver is provided for powering a solid-state light source with a constant current, including a memory that stores lumens per amp and volts per amp performance characterizations of the light source over time, and a controller that operates in a test mode to estimate the light source degradation based on voltage feedback obtained at a predetermined test current value, and to adjust the drive current in normal operating mode according to the estimated device degradation to implement constant lumens control without external optical feedback components.
