An agricultural planting machine includes a frame and a planting system supported on the frame and configured to plant seeds in a row. The planting system includes a ground-engaging element movable relative to the frame and configured to engage a ground surface of a field. A field contour detection system is configured to receive in-situ sensor data representing a location of the ground-engaging element, generate field contour data representing a contour of the ground surface based on the in-situ sensor data, and generate a control signal based on the field contour data.

An example monitoring device for monitoring crop yield is mounted to a housing of a grain elevator of an agricultural work machine proximate a crop conveyor assembly arranged in the housing and has at least one aperture formed therein. A material engagement member is arranged on the mounting structure and is pivotal with respect to the mounting structure about a pivot point. The material engagement member can comprise a first end and a second end opposite of the first end. At least one rotational sensor is arranged in the monitoring device and is configured to detect spatial movement or position of the material engagement member. A processing device is coupled to the at least one rotational sensor and is configured to determine an aggregate crop yield based on the detected rotational magnitude of the displacement of the first end or second end.

An object counting device adjusts a signal to account for noise to improve object counting accuracy. A controller receives an electromagnetic radiation (e.g., light) intensity signal from radiation detectors and determines that its value is within a voltage threshold, thereby indicating that no object is passing through the radiation. The controller determines a derivative of the signal and that the derivative is less than a derivative threshold level for at least a predefined time. The controller then updates a base noise floor value to be the value of the radiation intensity signal to account for particles within a path of the electromagnetic radiation to improve an object counting accuracy. In some embodiments, the processor can scale the received radiation intensity signal in accordance with the updated base noise floor value.

An object detection system compensates for variations in transmission characteristics within an object passageway caused by, for example, dust or dirt. An object detection device includes a plurality of electromagnetic radiation emitters and detectors arranged in rows on opposite sides of a passageway. First lenses focus radiation from the emitters into a semi-columnated beams of radiation that together create a plane of semi-columnated electromagnetic radiation that spans substantially across a width of the passageway. Second lenses focus the received electromagnetic radiation onto corresponding ones of the plurality of radiation detectors. A controller receives a radiation intensity signal from the detectors, determines that its value is outside of a predetermined range, and adjusts an amount of electrical power supplied to the plurality of radiation emitters so that the value of the radiation intensity signal changes to become within the predetermined range.

A first conductor is embedded in the first dielectric layer to a first wear depth, where the first wear depth is associated with a first threshold wear level. A second dielectric layer overlies the first dielectric layer to a second wear depth. The second wear depth is associated with a second threshold wear level greater than the first threshold wear level. A second conductor is embedded in the second dielectric layer and separate from the first conductor. An indicator is adapted to indicate whether the wear plate is the first threshold wear level or the second threshold wear level.

A fulcrum assembly is arranged on the mounting structure. A rocker arm is pivotal about a pivot axis of the fulcrum assembly and extends between a first end and a second end. An engagement member is coupled to the second end of the rocker arm and extends through the at least one aperture of the mounting structure. At least one gap distance sensor is mounted to the fulcrum assembly and is configured to detect an inclination of the rocker arm relative to the fulcrum assembly. A processing device is coupled to the gap distance sensor and is configured to correlate the detected inclination of the rocker arm to an applied force.

A harvesting machine has a controlled subsystem that performs harvesting machine functionality, and a control system that controls the controlled subsystem. A header is mounted to the harvesting machine and has row dividers (that divide rows of crop stalks) and gathering chains. A set of crop loss inhibitors is mounted proximate a forward portion of each of the gathering chains, in a direction of travel of the harvesting machine. The crop loss inhibitors also include a sensor that senses a variable, indicative of a crop attribute, as each crop stalk passes through the set of crop loss inhibitors.

A connector assembly comprising includes a housing with a wall and a plurality of connector units. The wall includes a plurality of openings having the same size and shape. Each of the connector units has a base plate, electrical connectors mounted in and projecting from the base plate, a hollow shroud surrounding the electrical connectors and extending away from the base plate, and a skirt surrounding the shroud. The skirt projects radially outwardly from the base plate. All of the skirts have the same outer peripheral size and shape. The shrouds may have a variety of different outer peripheral shapes and sizes corresponding to unique connector functions. Each of the skirts sealingly engage with a portion of the wall surrounding a corresponding opening. Each opening is surrounded by a groove, and each skirt overlaps and covers a corresponding one of the grooves.

Methods for creating a ground path between a stainless steel suspension and a copper trace layer in an integrated lead assembly of a disk drive suspension. The invention prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage by providing a means for grounding a lead to a controlled ground potential. Although the lead and suspension are generally separated by an insulating layer such as a polymide layer, connection between the lead and suspension can be made by, for example, creating an opening in the insulation layer and depositing a conductive material such an electrically conductive glue, solder or some other material through the opening to connect the two electrically conductive layers. A rivet may also be used to connect the two electrically conductive layers through a through hole that extends through both electrically conductive layers and the electrically insulating layer.
