An control system for use in a vehicle includes at least one functional unit adapted to be mounted in the vehicle, each functional unit having an alert device, connector and a remote controller configured to control a desired state of the respective alert device, and a central controller configured to sense a state of the vehicle and generate a desired state of the functional units based at least partially on the sensed state of the vehicle a functional connection between the central controller and the at least one functional unit.

Vehicle control system

A vehicle control system includes, among other things, one or more functional warning units positioned in various positions in a vehicle. A central controller is configured to generate a desired state of the functional warning units and encode the desired state into a packet. Each of multiple remote controllers is functionally connected to at least one of the functional warning units. A functional connection between the central controller and the multiple remote controllers is configured to transmit the encoded packet from the central controller to each of the remote controllers. The remote controllers are configured to parse the desired state of each of the functional warning units in the encoded packet and set the state of each of the functional warning units based on the parsed encoded packet.

Vehicle signal control system

An emergency vehicle control system with functional warning units for use in an emergency vehicle provide active visual and audible alerts. The functional warning unit includes a set of alert devices, each alert device having at least one functional connection and a remote controller, connected to the set of alert devices and configured to receive an encoded message on a single data line from a central controller. The remote controller is configured to decode the encoded message to a set of desired states for each of the set of alert devices. The remote controller is configured to control the set of alert devices, by way of the at least one functional connection, according to the respective desired state of each of the set of alert devices.

Emergency vehicle accessory

An emergency vehicle control system includes, among other things, one or more functional warning units positioned in various positions in an emergency vehicle. A central controller is configured to generate a desired state of the functional warning units and encode the desired state into a packet. Each of multiple remote controllers is functionally connected to at least one of the functional warning units. A functional connection between the central controller and the multiple remote controllers is configured to transmit the encoded packet from the central controller to each of the remote controllers. The remote controllers are configured to parse the desired state of each of the functional warning units in the encoded packet and set the state of each of the functional warning units based on the parsed encoded packet.

Emergency vehicle signal control system

A lamp monitor for a bus or other motor vehicle has a processor, a current sensor, a memory and a display for monitoring the current through the lamps. In program mode, the processor samples the current passing through the warming lamps and calculates an operating range. In operate mode, if the current sensor detects current passing through the lamp within the operating range, then a status lamp, located near the driver of the bus or motor vehicle, is illuminated.

Lamp monitor and method for operating a lamp monitor

A vehicle testing apparatus and method which facilitates tracing and isolating of short circuits. The tester preferably provides a user-selected constant current level (i.e. 1, 3 and 6 amperes) for driving a vehicle short under test at a constant current level compatible with the circuit. Any significant changes in the conductance of the vehicle short under test are registered in response to circuit voltage changes. An annunciator is activated in response to sudden significant conductance changes (preferably conductance decreases) which exceed a threshold level. Annunciation (preferably including audio output) allows the operator to immediately correlate movements of specific regions of wiring, or other circuit elements, with changes in the detected short conductance for the shorted circuit being tested. By way of example and not of limitation the tester may be implemented inexpensively with low cost analog circuitry, and does not require incorporating a microcontroller.
