An anti-vibration damper for tools for machining of metallic work pieces is provided. For improving the damping in order to be more effective under rough includes a vibration damping device received in a hollow cylindrical space of a tool member. The vibration damping device includes a plurality of rotationally symmetrical stacked on top of each other to form a stack. A part of mutually facing upper and lower surfaces of adjacent members is spaced at a distance from each other by elastically deformable elements. The outer diameter of the stack is smaller than the inner diameter of the hollow cylindrical space of the tool member, thereby providing a cylindrical gap, which is substantially filled with spherical balls, wherein clear gap width between the inner diameter of the hollow cylindrical space and the common outer diameter of the stack deviates from any integer sum of the ball diameters.

Anti-vibration damper

Cutting insert with a cuboid body has a substantially square top face and bottom face, said top face and bottom face connected by four peripheral adjoining side surfaces. At least two cutting edges are formed at the transition of the top face to at least two side surfaces, that cutting edges defining a plane of the top face. Tool and method for generating microstructures within cylindrical surfaces with a higher degree of efficiency, thereby allowing to provide cylindrical surfaces with a corresponding microstructure in much shorter cycle time. Cutting elements of the tool are arranged within seats to be radially displaceable in said seats during rotation of said tool body. The cutting elements are radially displaceable at least between two different radial positions, namely a radially retracted and a radially extended position. The cutting elements can be evenly distributed about the circumference of the tool at the same radial distance such that the tips of the cutting teeth and also the seats define a common cylindrical envelope surface the axis of which coincides with the axis of the tool body.

Device and method for generating microstructures in cylindrical surfaces

Cartridge for supporting at least one cutting insert and for being received on a tool body is disclosed. At least a first portion of the cartridge may be stationary mounted and the cartridge includes at least one pocket for receiving a cutting element. A coarse and a fine adjustment means are provided by means of which at least a second portion of the cartridge including the pocket may be moved with respect to the tool body and wherein the coarse and the fine adjustment means are merely provided at the cartridge.
