A single piece electrical connector having a housing with a mating face, a wire receiving face, and housing side walls. Terminal receiving cavities extend from the mating face to the wire receiving face. The terminal receiving cavities have cavity side walls. Resilient securing arms are provided in the terminal receiving cavities. The resilient securing arms have fixed portions which extend from and are integrally attached to base members which extend from and are integrally attached to the cavity side walls of the terminal receiving cavities. The resilient securing arms are made from the same material and in the same manufacturing process that forms the housing. The fixed ends are spaced from the cavity side walls by gaps. The gaps between the resilient securing arms and the cavity side walls facilitate the cleaning or removal of excess material formed during the manufacturing process of the electrical connector.

A socket contact includes a main body extending along a longitudinal axis between a mating end and a terminating end of the socket contact. The main body has a first side and a second side. The main body has a front and a rear extending between the first side and the second side. The socket contact includes a contact tail at the terminating end configured to be terminated to a circuit board. The socket contact includes a mating socket at the mating end. The mating socket includes a first beam and a second beam opposite the first beam. The mating socket includes a third beam longitudinally offset from the first beam and longitudinally offset from the second beam.

Socket contact for an electrical connector

An electrical connector includes a shell and a coupling ring. The shell has contact receiving passages and an outer wall with a coupling ring retaining projection. The coupling ring is integrally mounted on the shell. The coupling ring is movable between a first position and a second position. A spring is integrally positioned on the coupling ring. The spring is provided in a stressed position when the coupling ring is moved to the second position. Openings are provided in the coupling ring; the openings being positioned proximate the spring. The opening are dimensioned to allow the removal of residual material produced during the manufacture of the electrical connector.

A cable connector includes a cable having wire pairs and contacts in contact pairs. The contacts of the contact pairs may be simultaneously crimped to the corresponding wires by a crimp tool. Pair holders hold the contact pairs with an overmolded body molded around supporting bases of the contacts of the contact pair to fix relative positions of the contacts. The cable connector includes a pair shield having shield elements forming shield pockets receiving wire pairs, contact pairs, and pair holders. The cable connector includes a retainer having a retainer cavity that receives the wire pairs and the pair shield. The retainer includes a contact support to support the pair holders and the contact pairs. The cable connector includes an outer shell having an outer shell cavity that receives the retainer and provides electrical shielding for the contact pairs.

Cable connector

An electrical connector for use in an electrical connector system which controls cross talk and signal radiation. The electrical connector includes a housing having a plurality of modules. The modules have mating ends and mounting ends. Signal contacts are positioned in the modules. The signal contacts extend between the mating ends and the mounting ends and are arranged in pairs to carry differential signals. Ground contacts are positioned in the modules. The ground contacts extend between the mating ends and the mounting ends. Respective ground contacts of the ground contacts are positioned adjacent to respective signal contacts of the signal contacts. Ground plates are positioned in the modules. The ground plates extend between the mating ends and the mounting ends, the ground contacts are electrically connected to the ground plates.

Modular electrical connector with reduced crosstalk

An electrical connector assembly which controls cross talk and signal radiation. Signal pathways are provided on modules in a first connector housing, with the signal pathways being arranged in differential pairs. Second ground pathways are positioned between side surfaces of the modules and respective signal pathways of the signal pathways. Signal contacts are positioned in the second connector housing. Second ground contacts are positioned in the second connector housing. The second ground contacts are positioned between side surfaces of the second modules and respective signal contacts of the signal contacts. The second ground pathways engage the second ground contacts of the second modules to balance the differential pairs of signal pathways to optimize impedance and shielding of the signal pathways.

Modular electrical connector with additional grounding

A card edge connector includes a housing having a mounting end mounted to a host circuit board and a mating end having a card slot receiving a circuit card. Upper and lower contacts are received in upper and lower contact channels of the housing. The upper and lower contacts include corresponding mounting ends and mating ends with the mounting ends mounted to the host circuit board and the mating ends having first and second mating interfaces defining first and second points of contact with the same contact pad of the circuit card.

Card edge connector system

A circular plug connector includes an outer coupling ring, a plug shell and a self-supporting compression element between the outer coupling ring and the plug shell. The plug shell houses plug contacts. The plug shell includes a mid-body having a rear facing support surface. The self-supporting compression element surrounds the plug shell and includes a spring element engaging the rear facing support surface. The self-supporting compression element includes a retaining shim support integral with the spring element as a unitary, monolithic body that is received in the retaining element to fix the self-supporting compression element relative to the outer coupling ring. The spring element is compressible relative to the retaining shim support to allow the plug shell to move axially within the cavity of the outer coupling ring.

Circular plug connector

An electrical connector includes a contact leadframe of unitary construction including first contacts extending to second contacts via corresponding leads, and an overmolded contact module housing formed over the leadframe, forming a connector module. The connector further includes the housing embedding the leads and surrounding the first contacts, the second contacts extending from the housing. The connector further includes a first surface of the first contacts in contact with the housing, and an opposed second surface of the first contacts being exposed. The connector includes a plurality of connector modules positioned in an aligned arrangement.

Electrical connector

A connector system for a wearable article including receptacle and plug connector assemblies is provided. The receptacle connector assembly includes a housing having a cavity receiving an electronic device and having a receptacle connector. The plug connector assembly includes a holder including an article mount securable to the wearable article and a support arm hingedly coupled to the article mount at a hinge. The plug connector assembly has a plug connector on the support arm including plug contacts and a cable electrically connected to the plug contacts. A seal is coupled between the receptacle connector and the plug connector. The plug connector is loaded into a receptacle of the receptacle connector to mate the plug contacts with the receptacle contacts to electrically connect the cable to the electronic device.

Connector system for a wearable article

A connector system includes a receptacle connector having a receptacle housing including a cavity accessible through a front opening and a top opening. The receptacle connector has a receptacle connector platform supporting receptacle contacts being angled. The connector system includes a first plug connector received in the cavity through the front opening including a plug housing holding plug conductors. The plug housing has a plug connector platform having a mating interface with the plug conductors exposed at the mating interface. The plug connector platform is angled at a complementary angle to the receptacle connector platform for mating the plug conductors with the receptacle contacts.

A spring for use in an RF contact for a plug-in module including a hollow unitary cylindrical body having a longitudinal axis and a spring portion positioned between opposed first and second ends. The spring includes a first retainer near the first end, the first retainer adapted to be captured between first and second socket body portions of an RF contact, the first socket body portion, at least a segment of the second socket body portion, and the body adapted to be disposed within a receptacle module. The spring includes a second retainer near the second end, the second retainer adapted to be captured by a corresponding feature of the receptacle module. In response to the body being mounted in the receptacle module to floatingly secure the first socket body portion and the at least a segment of the second socket body portion therein, the spring portion is in tension.

Spring for use in an RF contact for a plug-in module

A rotary crimping tool assembly includes a tool housing defining a crimping chamber, and one or more crimp wheels within the crimping chamber. The crimping chamber is configured to receive the portion of the structure in proximity to the crimp wheel(s). The crimp wheel(s) are configured to be pressed into and rotated relative to the portion of the structure to form one or more crimps in the portion of the structure.

A grounding connector includes a shell having a mating end and a mounting end. The shell defines a cavity open at the mating end configured to receive a mating component. The shell has a base at the mounting end having a plurality of contact channels open to the cavity. Grounding contacts are received in corresponding contact channels. The grounding contacts have mating ends and compliant portions opposite the mating ends. The mating ends are positioned in the cavity for mating with the mating component. The compliant portions are received in the contact channels to mechanically and electrically connect each of the grounding contacts to the shell and to each other through the shell.

A terminal assembly includes a terminal having a wire barrel and a mating segment configured to be mated to a mating component. The terminal assembly includes a shuttle assembly configured to be coupled to an end of a wire. The shuttle assembly includes a connecting insert defining a wire chamber configured to receive an exposed conductor of the wire. The connecting insert has a retention tab extending into the wire chamber. The retention tab is configured to interfere with and retain the wire in the wire chamber. The connecting insert is received in the wire barrel of the terminal and the connecting insert is configured to be crimped between the wire barrel of the terminal and the exposed conductor of the wire when the wire barrel is crimped around the connecting insert and the wire.
