Methods and systems are provided for removing calcite deposits by contacting polysuccinimide with water to dissolve the polysuccinimide and supplying the dissolved polysuccinimide to surfaces fouled with the calcite deposits. The pH of the water that dissolves the polysuccinimide can be adjusted based on the amount of calcium in the water. Adjusting the pH will affect the dissolution rate of the polysuccinimide in water and the rate of removal of the calcite deposits.

Methods and systems for calcite removal using polysuccinimide

Disclosed are methods, materials, apparatus and systems for removing or suppressing ambient levels of reactive gas contaminants, particularly acidic gases, using particles of zeolite, sepiolite or other suitable carrier material impregnated with at least one treatment compound selected to react with the acidic gas(es). The methods involve contacting a contaminated gas stream with the impregnated carrier materials whereby at least a portion of the reactive gases contacts the treatment compound and reacts, thereby consuming the reactive gas molecules.

Method for improving gold recovery

Disclosed is a method for treating heap leach stacks by applying an insoluble polyimide composition, such as polysuccinimide, to the surface of an ore stack and/or incorporating the insoluble polyimide composition throughout the ore stack. The insoluble polyimide composition is then exposed to an aqueous solution to initiate hydrolysis and produce one or more water soluble products, such as hydrolyzed polyimides, polycarboxylates, polycarboxylic acids and mixtures thereof that will permeate the ore stack at a concentration sufficient to suppress scale formation within the leach stack. The water soluble products may also act to suppress scale formation in piping and channels peripheral to the leach stack, thereby reducing maintenance expenses.
