A powered axle for a work vehicle with a dual wheel arrangement includes an axle housing, an axle hub mounted to the axle housing, and an output hub having opposite axial ends supported by one or more wheel bearings for rotation about the axle hub along a rotation axis. An electric drive is disposed, at least in part, within the axle housing, and a hub gear set is disposed, at least in part, within the axle hub and configured to transmit power from the electric drive to the output hub for rotation of the dual wheel arrangement. A wheel brake disposed radially between the axle hub and the output hub and axially between the ends of the output hub is configured to selectively permit and arrest rotation of the output hub.

Powered axle for dual wheel work vehicle

A work vehicle includes a drive axle assembly having an axle housing with an input opening and output openings in communication with an interior cavity. A gear assembly is disposed in the interior cavity of the axle housing, with the gear assembly having an input shaft extending through the input opening and coupled for co-rotation with a drive shaft. A park brake assembly is integrated with the drive axle assembly and is disposed within the axle housing. The park brake assembly imparts a brake force to arrest rotation of the input shaft, with the park brake assembly including a brake pack and a piston disposed about the input opening of the axle housing and with the piston configured to move relative to and act on the brake pack. A Belleville spring arrangement is also disposed about the input opening of the axle housing and acts on the piston to engage or release the park brake.

A hydraulic clutch assembly includes a housing defining an internal cavity, a shaft, a clutch pack, a piston and a cylinder. The shaft extends within the internal cavity along a rotation axis for a rotatable member. The clutch pack includes interleaved plates and discs which are configured to rotationally couple the rotatable member to the shaft. The piston may be disposed within the internal cavity of the housing. The piston includes a first piston region and a second piston region. The first piston region is configured to engage the clutch pack while the second piston region is spaced radially from the first piston region. The piston may be arranged within the housing to define a first pressure chamber between the piston and the housing. The cylinder may be disposed within the internal cavity of the housing and may include a hollow interior for receiving the second piston region. The second piston region and the cylinder may define a second pressure chamber.

Dual-acting piston hydraulic clutch assembly

An epicyclic gear system, a fluid directing ring, and a method of directing a fluid to at least one fluid passage of a carrier in an epicyclic gear system are provided. The system includes a sun gear, a plurality of planet gears disposed around the sun gear, a carrier configured for rotation relative to the sun gear and having at least one fluid passage having a fluid passage inlet for supplying a fluid to at least one of the plurality of planet gears, and a plurality of fluid directors fixed for rotation with the carrier and disposed radially inward from the fluid passage inlet. Each of the plurality of fluid directors has a directing surface configured to receive the fluid conveyed radially outwardly and direct the fluid in a direction of rotation of the carrier.

A clutch assembly includes a housing, a rotational member configured to rotate relative to the housing about an axis, and a clutch pack coupled between the housing and the rotational member. The clutch pack is configured to regulate movement of the rotational member relative to the housing. The clutch pack includes a speed sensor ring coupled to the rotational member such that the speed sensor ring is configured to rotate with the rotational member about the axis. The clutch assembly includes a sensor in communication with the speed sensor ring. The sensor is configured to measure an angular velocity of the rotational member relative to the housing.

A method of assembling a shaft assembly having a shaft defining a longitudinal axis and including a groove in an outer circumferential surface includes positioning a hub relative to the shaft and positioning a retaining ring in the groove of the shaft and adjacent to the hub. The method also includes securing a retaining member to the retaining ring. Securing a retaining member to the retaining ring includes advancing a portion of the retaining member towards the hub and deforming the portion relative to the retaining ring.

A seal arrangement includes an annular energizer backing an annual seal. The seal is disposed about a central axis and has a first seal surface extending in a radial direction, a second seal surface extending in an axial direction, and a back side opposite at least one of the first and second seal surfaces. The annular energizer is made of a resilient compressible material configured to engage the back side of the seal. The seal and the energizer are arranged concentrically about the central axis, and the energizer engages the seal asymmetrically with respect to a radial plane extending through an axial center of the seal to apply a biasing force to the seal biasing the first seal surface in a first radial direction and biasing the second seal surface in a first axial direction.

A method of assembling a shaft assembly having a shaft defining a longitudinal axis and including a groove in an outer circumferential surface includes positioning a hub relative to the shaft and positioning a retaining ring in the groove of the shaft and adjacent to the hub. The retaining ring includes an annular body that has a first end spaced apart from a second end. The method also includes securing a retaining member to the retaining ring to constrain the first end relative to the second end.

An output bearing assembly of a transmission includes a housing, and a pair of bearings. At least one speedometer sensor is mounted between the bearings. The arrangement allows the output bearings to be spaced axially by a relatively great distance.

Rotation of transmission shafts as typically provided by the clutch brake is instead provided by increasing the load on the transmission shafts. In one embodiment, this is achieved by restricting flow through the supply line between the shaft driven pump and the oil cooler. By restricting this flow, the load on the pump increases, and the torque required to drive the pump increases. This, in turn, retards rotation of the transmission shafts to achieve the function typically provided by the clutch brake of stopping rotation. The present invention thus provides the function without the requirement of a clutch brake. The present invention is much more easily serviced or replaced than a clutch brake, and includes only elements which are accessible from outside of the transmission, and thus may be easily serviced or replaced.

Fluid power transmission clutch brake

An input shaft bearing retainer for use in a vehicle transmission assembly maintains an input bearing in a desired position without the use of external fasteners such as bolts. The bearing retainer includes an exterior portion having a radially extending flange that is engaged between a transmission case outer wall and a clutch housing outer wall. Since the clutch housing outer wall remains fixed relative to the outer wall of the transmission case, the input bearing retainer is also maintained in place. The interface between an opening through the transmission case and the bearing retainer includes a seal member in the form of an O-ring to maintain a fluid tight seal at the opening of the transmission case.
