A liner interface and method of making the liner interface comprising attaching non-compressible deformable electrically conductive receptors to an inner surface of a fabric layer, placing the fabric layer into a female part of a molding machine, axially deforming the deformable receptors from their initial thickness with a male part of the molding machine, injecting a molten gel elastomer into the molding machine to completely surround and adhere to the receptors and inner surface of the tubular fabric layer, allowing the molten gel to cure, and removing the male part from the molding machine and allowing the axially deformed receptors to axially expand beyond the inner surface of the cured liner interface.

Method and apparatus of a liner interface with neural receptors

A gel liner made by starting initially with a one-piece knitted tubular sock-shaped fabric having a closed distal end section of gel impermeable knitted fabric and an open proximal end section of gel impermeable knitted fabric and being a gel permeable loosely knitted fabric. Molding the liner to have a gel cushion layer on its interior surface with the gel passing through and partially embedding the yarns of the proximal fabric section with the outermost portions of the yarns free of gel to form at least one annular seal whereby the proximal end section forming a seal not inhibited in deformation and/or elongation by the fabric when the liner is worn thereby reducing or eliminating any twisting or discomfort of the liner during ambulation caused by the annular seal.

Method and apparatus of an integrated gel sealing liner

A liner interface and method of making comprising non-compressible deformable electrically conductive neural receptors having electrically conductive elements extending therefrom, formed by attaching each receptor and the conductive elements to an inner surface of a fabric layer, placing the fabric layer into a first part of a molding machine having a predetermined shape, moving a second part of the molding machine having a shape complemental to the first predetermined shape toward said fabric layer to either abut or axially deform the deformable receptors and define a space therebetween, injecting a molten gel elastomer into the space to surround and adhere to the receptors, conductive elements and fabric layer, allowing the molten gel to cure to form a gel inner surface, and removing the second part from the molding machine and allowing the receptors to either axially expand beyond or remain even with the inner surface of the cured liner interface.

Method apparatus of a liner interface with neural receptors

A gel liner made by starting initially with a one-piece knitted tubular sock-shaped fabric having a closed distal end section of gel impermeable knitted fabric, an open proximal end section of gel impermeable knitted fabric and at least one intermediate section being a gel permeable loosely knitted fabric. Molding the liner to have a gel cushion layer on its interior surface with the gel passing through and embedding the at least one intermediate fabric section therein to form at least one annular seal. The intermediate fabric section selected of meltable fibers and knit construction that may or may not be melted by the gel during the molding process whereby the at least one annular seal is not inhibited in compression and/or elongation by the presence or absence of fabric when the liner is worn thereby reducing or eliminating any discomfort of the liner during ambulation caused by the annular seal.

Method and apparatus of an integrated raised gel sealing liner

A prosthesis comprising an elastomeric locking liner sized and configured to surround a limb of a patient about a knee joint, the liner having an inner surface for facing the limb of the patient and an outer surface defining an anterior region and a posterior region which are demarcated by an imaginary plane extending midway between the front most portion and rear most portion of the limb along the length of the limb, wherein the anterior region has an anterior material secured thereto and the posterior region has a posterior material secured thereto and the anterior and posterior materials having equal transverse elongation, and the anterior material having a longitudinal elongation greater than the longitudinal elongation of said posterior material, whereby when said prosthesis is donned onto a limb of a patient over the knee and the limb is flexed about the knee, buckling of the prosthesis about the knee is substantially reduced or eliminated and wherein the distal end of the liner includes an insert member adapted to receive a connector for locking the liner to a prosthetic socket when worn on a residual limb of an amputee.
