A medical device system may include a sheath, a pusher wire, and a locking element. The pusher wire may be slidably disposed within a lumen of the sheath. The locking element may have a proximal end, a distal end, an intermediate region disposed between the proximal end and the distal end, and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The locking element may have a first inner diameter adjacent to the distal end and a second inner diameter adjacent to the proximal end, the second inner diameter smaller than the first outer diameter. The distal end region of the locking element may be configured to freely slide over the sheath and when a proximal end region of the locking element is disposed over the sheath, the locking element may be configured to depress the sheath radially inwards.

Wedge-lock sheath retention mechanism

A medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a lumen extending to a distal end of the elongate shaft, wherein a proximal portion of the elongate shaft is configured to disengage from a distal portion of the elongate shaft; a medical device disposed proximate the distal end of the elongate shaft; a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft, wherein the release wire releasably attaches the medical device to the distal end of the elongate shaft; and an introducer sheath slidably disposed over the elongate shaft, wherein the introducer sheath is configured to disengage the proximal portion of the elongate shaft from the distal portion of the elongate shaft.

Protection and actuation mechanism for controlled release of implantable embolic devices

A medical device system may include a sheath, a pusher wire, and a locking element. The sheath may have a first outer diameter adjacent to the proximal end and an enlarged outer diameter region having a second outer diameter greater than the first adjacent to the intermediate region. The pusher wire may be slidably disposed within a lumen of the sheath. The locking element may have a lumen extending therethrough. The locking element may have a first inner diameter adjacent to the distal end and a second inner diameter smaller than the first adjacent to the intermediate region. The locking element may configured to freely slide over a region of the sheath having the first diameter. When the locking element is disposed over the enlarged outer diameter region of the sheath having the second outer diameter, the locking element may be configured to depress the sheath radially inwards.

Pinch-lock sheath retention mechanism

A medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end, a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft configured to releasably attach a medical device to the distal end of the elongate shaft, and a securement member releasably coupled to the proximal end of the elongate shaft and fixedly attached to a proximal end of the release wire. A proximal portion of the securement member may be configured to translate proximally away from the proximal end of the elongate shaft upon application of a proximally-directed force to the proximal portion of the securement member and radially inward directed force to the distal portion of the securement member while the elongate shaft is maintained in a fixed position.

Medical device release system

A medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a lumen extending from a proximal end to a distal end, a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft configured to releasably attach a medical device to the distal end of the elongate shaft, and a securement member fixedly attached to the proximal end of the elongate shaft and to a proximal end of the release wire. A proximal portion of the securement member may be configured to translate proximally away from the proximal end of the elongate shaft upon application of a proximally-directed force to the proximal portion of the securement member while the elongate shaft is maintained in a fixed position, wherein the proximal portion remains connected to the proximal end of the elongate shaft after proximal translation away from the proximal end of the elongate shaft.
