A portable information handling system supports a flexible OLED display film over housing portions rotationally coupled by a hinge by folding the OLED display film over the hinge. Hinge brackets that couple to the housing portions each have a helical member that extends into an associated helical guide of the hinge main body. Hinge bracket rotation translates through the helical guides for synchronized housing rotation. The hinge main body has first and second circular portions extending along its length to define first and second rotation axes about which the hinge brackets pivot so that the display film has space to fold in the closed position.

A game controller has first and second controller housings that detachably couple to an information handling system and a bridge to communicate inputs by plural input devices directly with the information handling system or indirectly by communicating with the bridge so the bridge communicates with the information handling system. The information handling system operates in a handheld mode with game controller input devices, such as joysticks and triggers, coupled for use at opposing sides of the information handling system housing, or in a standalone mode with the game controllers detached from the information handling system and attached to a bridge so that the bridge communicates the controller inputs to the information handling system. Attachment of a game controller to a bridge or information handling system is aided with opposing polarity magnets at proper alignment. If a game controller attempts to couple to an opposite of an intended side, like polarity of the magnets repel the game controller from the bridge or information handling system.

A game controller includes a joystick that accepts end user inputs and has illumination provided at the game controller surface encircling the joystick to provide indications to an end user, such as a locally-determined game controller status or a game application end user energy state. The illumination is provided from light emitting diodes disposed within the game controller interior on a flexible printed circuit board and coupled to a base of an annular light guide by a gasket to direct illumination into the annular light guide. Non-translucent treatment at the light guide on the game controller surface defines a translucent region at which illumination is presented.
