High flow brominated polycarbonates, useful as flame retardant additives for other polymers such as polyesters, are obtained by equilibration of a brominated aromatic polycarbonate such as a tetrabromobisphenol A homo- or copolycarbonate with a di- or polyhydroxy aromatic compound such as bisphenol A, or a diaryl carbonate, and an equilibration catalyst, under conditions such that the weight average molecular weight of the brominated polycarbonate is reduced by at least 35%. A silicone cyclic, such as hexaorganotrisiloxane is lithiated with an alkyl lithium compound followed by treatment with a diorganohalosilane to produce a polydiorganosiloxane having a terminal diorganohydridesiloxy unit. The platinum catalyzed addition of a 2-alkenyl-6-organophenol results in the production of a phenol-siloxane macromer. Conversion of the phenol-siloxane macromer to a silicone polyphenylene ether graft copolymer is effected by oxidatively coupling the 2,6-diorganophenol to the phenol-siloxane macromer.
