Methods and devices for testing a biological sample are provided. A tape includes multiple channels or reservoirs having inlet and outlet ports. One tape having biological sample disposed in its channels is temporarily mated with another tape having reagents disposed in its channels via a serpentine belt and compression roller assembly. Pulsed fluidic operations combine the reagents and the biological sample for subsequent observation, detection, storage and/or disposal. Fluidic transfer is provided in a uniform operation or in conjunction with a sensory feedback assembly.

Analysis of a biological sample using tape-to-tape fluidic transfer

The present disclosure provides methods for screening subjects at a subordinate location within a geographic region, or a subordinate space within the subordinate location for an infectious agent. Such methods may comprise assigning a risk score to each of the one or more subordinate locations or subordinate spaces based on an amount of infectious agent in pooled environmental samples and pooled biological samples in a subordinate location or subordinate space as compared to each other subordinate location or subordinate space, and then screening biological samples from subordinate locations or subordinate spaces that have a higher risk score before screening biological samples from subordinate locations or subordinate spaces that have a lower risk score. Methods for determining a risk of a viral infection in one or more geographic regions are also provided.

A fluorescent lamp with spring-loaded terminal pins includes a tube having an inner surface and an outer surface; an amount of electrically excitable gas disposed in the tube; a fluorescent chemical coat disposed on the inner surface of the tube; a pair of electrodes with each electrode positioned within the tube near each end thereof; a pair of base caps each sealed to a separate end of the tube such that the length of the tube including base caps is about four feet; and a pair of spring-loaded terminal pins extended through each base cap and coupled to the nearest electrode for delivering electrical energy thereto.

Apparatus for supporting and lifting a load that includes a pair of spaced-apart, L-shaped forks. The horizontal leg of each fork contains a series of longitudinally-extended grooves formed in the load contacting top surface thereof. The grooves reduce the load contacting area of the top surfaces by about 40 percent thereby increasing the frictional forces acting between the load and the forks.

Lifting apparatus

A high definition television receiver including analog and digital signal processing circuits receives an analog high definition television signal representative of digital television information. The received signal contains narrowband high priority information and low priority wideband information. An automatic gain control (AGC) signal is developed from the received analog signal by means of a root-mean-square amplitude detector.
