Examples of a platen for a printing device are described. In some examples, the platen may include a spit opening located at a side of the platen. In some examples, the spit opening may include an angled lead-in edge to facilitate travel of print media in the printing device. In some examples, an inside portion of a leading edge of the print media contacts the angled lead-in edge of the spit opening and pulls an outside edge of the print media up as the print media moves across the platen.

An example device comprises a media path, a drying system, and a controller. The media path is divided into a plurality of distinct drying zones. The drying system includes a plurality of directionalities with relation to the plurality of distinct drying zones. And the controller is to select a directionality of the plurality of directionalities based on parameters of a print job.

A knockdown apparatus for a finisher includes a register tray, a paddle coupled to a rotatable shaft to compile a recording medium toward an end of the register tray, and a knockdown device, provided above the register tray, to rotate to apply a downward force to the recording medium while the recording medium is in the register tray to decrease a curl in the recording medium.

A base device to support a finisher includes a base pan, a first plurality of casters coupled to the base pan, a second plurality of casters coupled to the base pan, and a recess to receive a tip foot. The base pan includes a section which protrudes outward from a first side of the base pan. The first plurality of casters are coupled to the base pan to contact a surface when the base pan is level with respect to the surface, each of the first plurality of casters being beside a respective separate corner of the base pan and at least two of the first plurality of casters being beside the section. The second plurality of casters are to be positioned above the surface when the base pan is level with respect to the surface and to contact the surface when the base pan is inclined to a threshold.

An example a media sensor device may comprise a light source positioned on a first side of a media pathway, a light path to receive a light from the light source and direct the light through a plurality of openings from the first side of the media pathway to a second side of the media pathway, and a light sensor on the second side of the media pathway to detect print media within the light path based on an intensity of light received from the light source, wherein a heated enclosure aligns the light sensor with the light path.

Example implementations relate to media stacking mechanisms. In some examples, a printing device can include a stacking mechanism that includes a tamper to tamp print media positioned within the stacking mechanism, and a controller comprising instructions to: tamp a first sheet of print media received at the stacking mechanism a first distance based on a first size of the first sheet of print media, tamp a second sheet of print media received at the stacking mechanism a second distance based on the second size of the second sheet of print media, wherein the second sheet of print media is positioned over the first sheet of print media, and tamp a third sheet of print media received at the stacking mechanism the second distance when the third sheet of print media is the first size, wherein the third sheet of print media is positioned over the second sheet of print media.

Media stacking mechanisms

Some examples include a print system including a memory to store instructions and print data of a print job, a processor to execute the instructions in the memory to reference print data of a print job, determine a print parameter of the print job, and transform the print data and the print parameter into a conditioning modifier. The print system includes a print engine to dispense a print substance on a medium based on the print data to generate printed medium, and a conditioner to apply heat and pressure to the printed medium, the conditioner including a pressure roller assembly, and a controller to selectively increase a transport speed the pressure roller assembly based on the conditioning modifier and a position of the printed medium relative to the pressure roller assembly to selectively increase the speed of the printed medium through the conditioner.

In one example, a heated pressure roller can include a structural element positioned within a belt roller, a platen coupled to the structural element, wherein the platen comprises: a first side to guide a belt of the belt roller to form a first angle on the first side, and a second side to guide the belt of the belt roller to form a second angle on the second side that is different than the first angle.

A door for a printing device may include a spring having a first and a second end, the second end coupled to the door and the first end biased away from a surface of the door and a groove into which the first end of the spring may be placed into wherein when the first end of the spring is placed into the groove, the door is deflected in the direction that the spring is biased.

In some examples, a conditioner system for a media printed by a printing system includes a media conditioning assembly comprising a heater, the media conditioning assembly to receive the media printed by the printing system after the media has been heated by a dryer in the printing system after printing has occurred on the media. Responsive to a determined moisture content of the media, the heater of the media conditioning assembly controls a temperature of the media, and the media conditioning assembly controls a speed of the media through the media conditioning assembly.

A media sensing device may include an electromagnetic radiation source, a light guide located on an opposite side of a media feed path respective to the electromagnetic radiation source, and a photodetector to detect electromagnetic radiation from the electromagnetic radiation source and directed by the light guide. The photodetector detects the presence of media upstream from a heated pressure roller (HPR) in response to the media obstructing the detection of electromagnetic radiation from the electromagnetic radiation source.

An example auxiliary module includes an external power supply interface to couple to an external power source, at least one subsystem to operate using power from the external power source, and a power controller coupled to the external power supply interface. The at least one subsystem is to receive control signals from a primary device. The power controller includes circuitry to provide power from the external power source to the at least one subsystem. The power controller is to further provide power control signals to the primary device.

An example bridge module includes a media transport roller to move in a translational direction, a rotatable guide proximate to the media transport roller, a handle coupled to the rotatable guide to cause the rotatable guide to articulate into an open configuration and away from the media transport roller, and an elongated member operatively connected to the rotatable guide, the elongated member to articulate into the open configuration creating an unobstructed pathway to the media transport roller.

According to examples, a printing apparatus may include an output bin that is laterally translatable between a retracted position and an extended position. The printing apparatus may also include a sensor to detect a height of a stack of media on the output bin while the output bin is in the retracted position and a controller. The controller may determine whether the detected height of the stack of media on the output bin exceeds a certain level and in response to a determination that the detected height of the stack of media exceeds the certain level, laterally translate the output bin from the retracted position to the extended position.

An example device includes a conveyor to convey a printed medium along a path from a print engine towards a printed media output. The device further includes a housing to hold the conveyor. The housing defines an air intake, an exhaust port, and a conveyor volume to contain the conveyor. The air intake provides air to the conveyor volume to dry the printed medium. The device further includes a tortuous exhaust passage extending from the conveyor volume to the exhaust port to exhaust air from the conveyor volume.
