Disclosed and claimed herein are e,e,e malonic acid/acetic acid tri-adducts of buckminsterfullerene of the general formula CR, wherein each R is independently selected from groups of the formula &#x2550;CRRwherein each Rand Ris independently selected from the group consisting of &#x2014;H and &#x2014;COOH, provided, however, that at least one of the R's and R's is a hydrogen. Processes for preparing and uses of the same for treating neuronal injury and for life-extension are also disclosed and claimed herein.
