Techniques and systems are presented to facilitate controlling and verifying the behaviors of privacy-impacting devices in alignment with the privacy behavior expectations of individuals and other entities. Accountability and audit mechanisms can verify the control state of IoT and other devices with respect to their privacy behavior preference inputs and can notify device owners and users when devices are compromised by malware and viruses. A trust-enhancing and technically transparent system architecture includes a distributed application network, distributed ledger technology, smart contracts, and/or blockchain technology.

Unified control and validation of privacy-impacting devices

Techniques are provided for enhancing the targeting, selection, review, and presentation of online social network (OSN) data pertinent to an evidence context. In one formulation, a concept taxonomy is determined from a request frame relating to targeted OSN data. The concept taxonomy is transformed into query terms for searching targeted OSN data stored in an OSN data collection; a review set of OSN data entities aligned with the request frame is formulated. In another formulation, a presentation model is generated corresponding to an evidence context which is populated with OSN data entities in a review set; the presentation model is displayed on a user interface. Indications of relevance by a user on the user interface change content or properties of the OSN data entities in the review set.

Systems and methods for targeting, reviewing, and presenting online social network data by evidence context

Systems and techniques describe a collaborative road user safety service that interacts with a coordinating set of collaborative safety devices belonging to road users in order to interchange reliable information about road safety. A distributed ledger/blockchain is utilized in connection with the service to coordinate data exchange between collaborative safety device users and provide data subscribers with reliable safety data that can be used to automate ancillary technical processes. Collaborative safety devices can alert members to road safety issues and be used to confirm information about road safety by collecting sensor and telemetry data. Data subscribers can receive aggregated, anonymized, de-anonymized, or specific road user data pertaining to road users and define the terms of incentives to road users that 'self-revise' if a road user's vehicle is a target vehicle via smart contract interfaces. Cryptographic token can be transferred to incentivize data sharing, accuracy, and safe road behaviors.

A technique includes determining that a given memory device of a plurality of memory devices has failed and in response to the determination that the given memory device has failed, re-encoding a data unit associated with the given memory device. The data unit is associated with a payload and a symbol-based error correction code. The re-encoding includes determining a bit-based error correction code for the payload and replacing the data unit in the memory with the payload and the bit-based error correction code.

Parameters of a control field for a resource are defined with at least one #define statement within source code, each #define statement having a common format to specify the parameters. The #define statement is processed to include one or more of the parameters in code generating statements within the source code. The source code is compiled into executable code, and the executable code is executed to utilize attributes of the resource.

Systems, methods, software products test a memory cache of a processor that includes a test engine (e.g., a BISTE). High level test source code is formulated to use routines in API source code that, when compiled into machine test code, interfaces with the test engine. The machine test code is executed with the processor to test the memory cache to detect one or more faulty memory blocks in the memory cache. If any of the faulty memory blocks are detected, the test engine is instructed, through the machine test code, to set one or more bits in registers to functionally replace the faulty memory blocks with redundant blocks of the memory cache.

The invention includes optics adapted for focusing on a layer of an information storage media. An optical pulse generator is coupled with the layer through the optics for generating a train of optical pulses, wherein each pulse has a respective temporal placement within the train and has a respective pulse duration. The respective pulse duration of each pulse is controlled by an amount of an analog duration control voltage, in accordance with a WRITE STRATEGY, which is based on a physical property of the layer of the information storage media. Similarly the respective temporal placement of each pulse is controlled by an amount of an analog temporal placement control voltage, in accordance with the WRITE STRATEGY.

Apparatus and method for analysis and control of timing of a train of high speed, high power laser pulses

An apparatus and method for automatically analyzing and controlling intensity of a train of high speed, high power multi-level optical pulses. The invention includes an optical pulse generator for generating the train of high speed, high power, multi-level optical pulses, wherein the optical pulse generator provides a low optical intensity level and a medium optical intensity level and a high optical intensity level. A photodetector is optically coupled with the optical pulse generator for generating a train of electrical pulses having amplitude levels in response to optical intensity levels of the train of optical pulses. At least one reference is employed, wherein an analyzer electrically coupled with the reference and the photodetector for analyzing the amplitude levels of the train of electrical pulses in comparison to the reference. A controller is electrically coupled with analyzer for generating a high correction signal based upon the analysis of the amplitude levels.

Apparatus and method for analysis and control of a train of high speed, high power, multi-level laser pulses

A transducer position sensing system, in a electromechanical drive, for determining transducer position. A sensor is mounted with a non-adjustable position and without absolute position accuracy, thereby lowering manufacturing costs. The position of the transducer at which the sensor switches states is accurately determined in a manufacturing test fixture and recorded in a permanent memory used by a drive controller. The drive controller can then accurately determine transducer position during subsequent initialization procedures.

Positioning using a position sensor and a calibrated offset between the position sensor and a reference position

A system for calibrating a magnetic tape drive for accurate movement of a tape head or drive motor accommodates mechanical and manufacturing inaccuracies. Motion is corrected through sensing variations from desired position or speed through operation of the drive in one continuous motion. These values may then be processed or filtered to remove non-repeatable effects and thus achieve appropriate correction in operation. The values may be written to a ROM in tabular format correlating position correction values with track number or adjusting speed coefficients for use during operation. For the tape head, actual position values are sensed in one substantially continuous motion of the tape head through a move command for faster calibration.
