A passive device includes a non-conductive housing including an upper and lower housing section, a conductive section housed in the upper housing section, and a pressure assembly housed in the lower housing section. The pressure assembly includes a compressible conductor, a mounting structure coupled to the compressible conductor and the upper housing section, a conductive contact coupled to the compressible conductor and the conductive section, and a firm spherical conductor. The firm spherical conductor includes an upper contact point for contact with the compressible conductor and a lower contact point for contact with the touchscreen. When z-direction pressure is applied on the firm spherical conductor, the compressive conductor compresses against the upper contact point. Compression of the compressive conductor increases surface area between the firm spherical conductor and the compressive conductor. The increase in surface area increases the capacitance of the passive device.

A touch sensor device (TSD) includes a panel and drive-sense circuits (DSCs). The panel includes electrodes, and the DSCs are operably coupled to the electrodes. A DSC is operably coupled via a single line to an electrode and is configured to provide a signal via the single line to the electrode and simultaneously to sense the signal via the single line. The sensing of the signal includes detection of an electrical characteristic of the electrode and/or a change of the signal. The DSC is also configured to generate a digital signal representative of the electrical characteristic of the electrode and/or the change of the signal. The TSD also includes one or more processing modules operably coupled to the DSCs and configured to execute operational instructions to process first digital signals generated by a first subset of the DSCs that includes fewer than all of the DSCs in a prioritized manner.

A touch sensor device (TSD) includes a panel that includes electrodes and drive-sense circuits (DSCs). Different electrodes may be implemented in different directions. A first DSC is operably coupled via a first single line to a first electrode, and a second DSC is operably coupled via a second single line to the panel. The DSCs operate by providing respective signals via the respective single lines and simultaneously sensing the signals. For example, sensing of a first signal of a first DSC includes detection of a first electrical characteristic of the first electrode and/or a first change of the first signal. Sensing of a second signal of the second DSC includes detection of coupling of another signal into the panel in accordance with digital data communication from another device to the TSD. The DSCs also generate respective digital signals based upon what they sense.

A foot force detection system includes variable capacitors, drive sense circuits, a processing module, and a power unit. A drive sense circuit supplies a reference signal to the variable capacitor. It then generates a sensed signal regarding a characteristic of the variable capacitor based on the reference signal. It then converts the sensed signal into a digital signal. The processing module generates a digital impedance value for the variable capacitor based on the digital signal and writes the digital impedance value in memory. The power unit include a battery and a power harvesting circuit, where the battery and/or the power harvesting circuit provide power for the foot force detection system.

The processing module also receives second data regarding the second set of pressure sensors and generates a second digital representation of the second data. The processing module also writes the first and second digital representations to the memory.

A drive sense circuit of the drive sense module is operable to provide an analog and frequency domain signal to a variable capacitor. The processing module is operable to generate a digital value based on the representative and to write the digital value to memory.

A method includes a processing module obtaining touch data at a touch data rate. The method further includes the processing module obtaining video data at a refresh rate, wherein the touch data rate is greater than the refresh rate. For a frame of the video data, the method further includes the processing module determining a touch movement trend based on the touch data. The method further includes the processing module determining a position offset for a graphical representation of the touch data based on the touch movement trend. When the position offset exceeds an offset threshold, the method further includes the processing module adjusting position of the graphical representation of the touch data within the frame of video data based on the position offset to produce an adjusted frame of video data.

Also, an overlay that includes marker electrode(s) is also associated with a region of the surface of the TSD. A DSC is configured to provide a TSD electrode signal to a TSD electrode and simultaneously to sense a change of the TSD electrode signal based on a change of impedance of the TSD electrode caused by capacitive coupling between the TSD electrode and the marker electrode(s) of the overlay. Processing module(s) is configured to process a digital signal generated by the DSC to determine characteristic(s) of the overlay that is associated with the at least a portion of the surface of the TSD.

A touch controller includes a processing module operably coupled to a plurality of sensing circuits, the processing module is operable to receive a sense signal regarding an electrical characteristic of a sensor of a plurality of sensors. The processing module is further operable to determine the sense signal indicates the electrical characteristic is affected by an identifying signal emitted by a finger. The processing module is further operable to determine a coordinate location of the sensor. The processing module is further operable to generate a proximal touch signal that includes the coordinate location of the sensor.
