Systems and methods may include a motor and an output shaft apparatus. The output shaft apparatus may be configured to position a manufacturing component using the motor. The output shaft apparatus may move linearly along a longitudinal axis and/or rotationally about the longitudinal axis. The system may also include an engagement apparatus coupling the motor to the output shaft apparatus. The engagement apparatus may be configured in a linear configuration for linearly moving the output shaft apparatus or a rotational configuration for rotationally moving the output shaft apparatus.

Linear and rotational adjustment systems

An apparatus and associated methodology providing a processor-controlled end effector that is selectively moveable according to end effector coordinates. A camera is positioned to detect objects according to camera coordinates that overlap the end effector coordinates. Logic executes computer instructions stored in memory to obtain a plurality of paired values of end effector coordinates and camera coordinates for each of a plurality of fiducial features, and to derive a transformation function from the plurality of paired values mapping the camera coordinates to the end effector coordinates.

Coordinating end effector and vision controls

A tool may be configured at least with a fastener that can be accessed with a shaped bit. A controller portion of the tool can be arranged to predict bit deflection that enables a tool configuration to be adapted in response to actual bit deflection to conform to the predicted bit deflection.

Adaptive fastener access tool

An apparatus and associated methodology providing an axial positioner for a rotatable shaft that is selectively extensible along an axis of rotation. The apparatus includes a sleeve having a first race operably fixed in rotation with the shaft, and a second race operably fixed at a predetermined rotational position. The races define opposing bearing surfaces operably supporting the first race in rotation with respect to the second race. The apparatus also includes an indicia device attached to the second race.

Axially positioning a rotating article

A method for balancing a spindle assembly for compensating for dynamic imbalance of the spindle assembly. The method uses a plurality of adjustable eccentric rings for dynamically balancing the spindle assembly. The plurality of eccentric rings are preassembled with the spindle assembly and the method includes the steps of measuring an imbalance of a combination of the spindle assembly and the eccentric rings preassembled with the spindle assembly and balancing the spindle assembly by adjusting the eccentric rings based upon a measured imbalance of the combination of the spindle assembly and the eccentric rings.

Method for balancing a rotating assembly using eccentric rings

A balancing system for a spindle assembly for compensating for dynamic imbalance of the spindle assembly. The spindle assembly includes a rotor rotatable about a shaft. The rotor includes a plurality of radially concentric channels supporting adjustable eccentric rings for dynamically balancing the spindle assembly. The spindle assembly is balanced by adjusting the balanced of eccentric rings assembled with the spindle assembly based upon a measured balance of the spindle assembly and the eccentric rings.
