A hot melt adhesive composed of an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer, a tackifying resin, and a liquid plasticizer. The preferred ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer has a vinyl acetate content between 8 and 28 percent by weight, and the preferred hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer is a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene having about 30% styrene content and essentially no diblock. The hot melt gives excellent peel strength when used as a construction adhesive for disposable nonwoven articles. It can also be formulated to exhibit very low bleed through and blocking characteristics when used on low basis weight nonwoven fabrics.

A self-expiring band structure is activated upon the contacting of two chemical constituents together. This contacting may be performed by the attachment action of the band or independently thereof. After a time duration has passed, the coaction of the chemical constituents result in a visually perceptible change can alert others to the fact the band has expired. These bands may be both printable, such as by a printer or other machine printing, as well as time-expiring making them a very versatile product that offer heightened security at the price point closer to that of a disposable item because they do not require complex infrastructure for validation.

Self-expiring identification bands and methods of use thereof

A hot melt adhesive composed of a styrene-butadiene-styrene polymer having a relatively high diblock content and styrene content, a second styrenic block copolymer having a lower diblock content than the styrene-butadiene-styrene polymer, which is preferably a styrene-isoprene-styrene polymer, together with tackifying resin, and liquid plasticizer. The preferred styrene-butadiene-styrene polymer contains a styrene content of greater than 30 percent and a diblock content greater than 30 percent by weight. When used in conjunction with a styrene-isoprene-styrene polymer, the hot melt composition provides improved peel strength at 5&#xb0; C., and when used as a pad attachment positioning adhesive, did not exhibit adhesive transfer at 40&#xb0; C.

Hot melt positioning adhesive

A label has a topcoat layer and a sacrificial layer. The topcoat layer has a first color having a first L-value and the sacrificial layer has a second color having a second L-value. The topcoat layer comprises at least one reflective pigment and a polymeric binder and the sacrificial layer comprises at least one infrared (IR) absorbing material and a polymeric binder. The first L-value is greater than the second L-value, and the total amount of the at least one reflective pigment is from 40 wt % to 80 wt %, based on the weight of the topcoat layer.

Label construction for ablative laser marking

A label includes (a) a base segment, (b) a first lobe segment comprising at least one protruding member and a pull tab, (c) a second lobe segment comprising at least one protruding member, (d) a first cutout segment, (e) a second cutout segment, (f) a first perforation forming a boundary between the base and first lobe segments, (g) a second perforation forming a boundary between the base and second lobe segments, and (h) a third perforation forming a boundary between the first lobe segment and its at least one protruding member. The first and second lobe segments are connected to the base segment and opposed to one another. The first and second cutout segments separate the at least one protruding member of the first and second lobe segments, respectively, from the base segment. The label comprises at least (A) a facesheet layer and (B) an adhesive layer.

Tamper-evident label

A hot melt adhesive that is composed of a metallocene catalyzed polyethylene polymer, a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer, a tackifying resin, and a solid plasticizer. The preferred polyethylene polymer is an ethylene-octene copolymer, and the preferred styrenic block copolymer is a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene having less than 30% styrene content. The preferred solid plasticizer is either glycerol tribenzoate or 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol dibenzoate.
