Depth mask assisted video stabilization

Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with producing spatially varying spectral response calibration data are described. One example method includes controlling a digital camera to capture characteristic data arrays from light sensors in the digital camera in response to the digital camera being exposed to light stimuli from a multi-spectral reference display. The data arrays will be acquired multiple times at multiple locations in multiple stimuli provided from the multi-spectral reference display. The method also includes controlling a calibration logic to manipulate characteristic data arrays to produce spatially varying spectral response calibration data as a function of using characteristic data arrays and known wavelengths of the light in light stimuli. The method may also include providing the spatially varying spectral response calibration data to a downstream consumer (e.g., correction process, quality control process), displaying the data, or storing the data.

Spatially-varying spectral response calibration data

A method is provided for correcting a captured image. The method comprises determining an illuminant for the captured image. When the determined illuminant matches a reference illuminant the image is corrected with a reference inversion mask. When the determined illuminant matches a first extreme illuminant, the reference inversion mask is modified using a first set of reference point ratios that corresponds to the first extreme illuminant and the image is corrected with the modified inversion mask. When the determined illuminant does not match the first extreme illuminant, a set of reference point ratios are calculated for the determined illuminant. The reference inversion mask is modified using the calculated set of reference point ratios and the image is corrected with the modified inversion mask.

Reducing or eliminated color-dependent vignetting in a digital camera includes: providing a raw array of data corresponding to an image of a scene for each color that the camera can image; and adjusting the raw arrays such that the array for each color exhibits substantially the same amount of vignetting.

Method and apparatus for color non-uniformity correction in a digital camera

A method and device for generating image data are disclosed herein. One embodiment of the method comprises focusing an image of an object onto a two-dimensional photosensor array, wherein an optical element is located between the object and the two-dimensional photosensor array. The optical element is moved, wherein the moving causes the image focused on the two-dimensional photosensor array to move parallel to the two-dimensional photosensor array. Data representative of the image is generated by the two-dimensional photosensor array while the optical element is moving.

Producing calibration data (to remove vignetting, e.g., color-dependent vignetting) for a digital camera includes: arranging, in front of the camera, a white reference surface that is to be imaged; capturing, via the camera, a characteristic array of data corresponding to an image of the reference surface for each color that the camera can image; and manipulating each characteristic array to reduce a total amount of data representing the reference image.

A method and system for improving the quality of an image in an electronic imaging system is disclosed. The method and system comprise capturing an image frame, capturing a compressed dark frame, decompressing a portion of the compressed dark frame and subtracting the decompressed portion of the compressed dark frame from a corresponding section of the image frame. The steps of decompressing a portion of the compressed dark frame and subtracting the decompressed portion from a corresponding section of the image frame are repeated for additional portions of the compressed dark frame.

A method and system for improving the quality of an image obtained by an electronic imaging system is disclosed. The method and system comprise capturing an image frame, capturing a partial dark frame and subtracting the partial dark frame from a corresponding section of the image frame. The steps of capturing a partial dark frame and subtracting the partial dark frame from a corresponding section of the image frame are repeated for additional partial dark frames.
