A process for the chemical conversion of contaminated magnesium hydroxide to high purity solutions of magnesium bicarbonate include steps of providing an impure reagent including at least 40% and less than 95% by total weight of total metals of magnesium in a form of solid magnesium hydroxide and at least 10% by weight of total metals of calcium carbonate, combining the impure reagent containing the solid magnesium hydroxide with carbonic acid in water, thereby generating magnesium bicarbonate and water and then filtering out solid calcium carbonate leaving a solution of magnesium bicarbonate in water having a by weight ratio of Mg/(Mg+Ca) in the solution of greater than 95%. Heating and/or drying the magnesium bicarbonate solution produces correspondingly high purity magnesium carbonate.

Chemical process for the manufacture of magnesium bicarbonate from impure reagent including magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate

A system and process for disposal of dry fly ash that effectively confines and damps fugitive dust during the collection, sorting, transporting, storage and treatment of fly ash at a landfill. The system and process for disposal of dry fly ash utilizing an enlarged, oversized hopper positioned at the top of a hill and an elongate channel that runs between the enlarged hopper and the landfill. A bulk transport truck hauling a belly dump trailer dumps dry fly ash through an elevated platform having a centrally aligned orifice into the oversized hopper having a slurry rack and a large hopper grate. The ramps and raised platform of the enlarged hopper allow the belly dump trailer compartments to be closer to the orifice and the hopper grate in order to minimize fugitive ash during the disposal process.

System and process for disposal of dry fly ash

Methods of treating mercury contaminated gas comprising: introducing a hydrogen halide selected from HBr and HI into a mercury contaminated gas stream containing a quantity of particulate matter at an introduction rate sufficient to create a concentration of at least 0.1 ppmvd; wherein greater than 50% of all particulate matter in the mercury contaminated gas stream is a native particulate matter; contacting a quantity of active bromine with the native particulate matter; creating a doped particulate matter; coating a filtration media with the doped particulate matter; and passing a portion of the mercury contaminated gas stream through the doped particulate matter on the filtration media and other related methods are disclosed herein.

An apparatus for preventing neck injury, spinal cord injury and concussion is disclosed. The apparatus includes a helmet, a body harness and a plurality of anchor assemblies connecting the helmet to the body harness. The anchor assemblies are adjustable to limit the cervical rotation, lateral bending, flexion and extension ranges of motion of a wearer to a predetermined set point, each anchor assembly including a plurality of guide cords extending from the helmet to an anchor of the anchor assembly, the plurality of guide cords being attached to, but individually adjustable with respect to, the anchor.

The system and process for disposal of dry fly ash utilizing an enlarged, oversized hopper positioned at the top of a hill and an elongate channel that runs between the enlarged hopper and the landfill. A bulk transport truck hauling a belly dump trailer dumps dry fly ash through an elevated platform having a centrally aligned orifice into the oversized hopper having a slurry rack and a large hopper grate. The dry fly ash is mixed with water in the enlarged hopper at a ratio of approximately 1:1, after which it flows downstream into the elongate channel and ultimately to the landfill. When the transport truck is positioned above the enlarged hopper, the doors of the belly dump trailer open and contact a substantially upright skirt surrounding the periphery of the orifice. The ramps and raised platform of the enlarged hopper allow the belly dump trailer compartments to be closer to the orifice and the hopper grate in order to minimize fugitive ash during the disposal process. A fan located within the elongate channel creates a partial vacuum forcing the dry fly ash from the belly dump trailer into the enlarged hopper, which is mixed with water from the slurry rack and allowed to flow downstream where it is further mixed within the elongate channel.

A variable sized diaper, which is reusable, is disclosed. The diaper inlcudes an outer liquid impermeable panel having a generally hourglass configuration. The outer panel is sealedly connected about its perimeter to a corresponding inner panel having a substantially identical outer perimeter. The inner panel includes a fluid absorbent core, longitudinally positioned along the length of the diaper which is circumscribed by a plurality of side panels and waist panels which are constructed of liquid impermeable fabric. A conjunction of the inner panel and the outer panel defines a liquid permeable absorbent core which is substantially surrounded by a fluid impermeable hollow pocket or sack which extends about the entire circumference of the absorbent core. A 'V'-shaped pile attachment strip is positioned on the frontmost regions of the diaper and is adapted to connect with a pair of hook fasteners one of which is positioned on each of the two wing-like portions of the rear portion of the diaper. The association of the hook and pile fasteners permits an adjustable placement of the diaper about the waist or girth of the infant. As the waist fitting region of the diaper is adjusted a corresponding adjustment in the leg openings of the diaper is obtained whereby the diaper may be adapted for use for an infant weighing between six to thirty pounds. The diaper also includes means of folding the frontmost portions of the diaper down so as to expose the naval region of the infant, thereby avoiding irritation of that region during its post-natal healing process.
