A steering linkage assembly includes a steering linkage that is operatively connectable to a pair of road wheels. The steering linkage assembly also includes a housing defining a sealed compartment containing at least a portion of the steering linkage. The steering linkage assembly further includes a first sealing boot operatively coupled to the steering linkage and located proximate a first end of the housing. The steering linkage assembly yet further includes a second sealing boot operatively coupled to the steering linkage and located proximate a second end of the housing, wherein the first sealing boot has at least one distinctive characteristic relative to the second sealing boot to define non-identical sealing boots.

Steering linkage assembly, seal integrity diagnostic system and test method

An axially adjustable steering column assembly includes a first support structure. The axially adjustable steering column assembly also includes a second support structure, wherein the first support structure is axially adjustable relative to the second support structure in a telescoping manner. The axially adjustable steering column assembly further includes a plurality of telescope interface assemblies disposed between the first support structure and the second support structure. Each of the telescope interface assemblies include a track formed in at least one of the first support structure and the second support structure. Each of the telescope interface assemblies also includes a plurality of metal balls disposed in the track to provide a rolling interface between the first support structure and the second support structure during axial adjustment therebetween.

A seal integrity verification system includes a pressure source, a valve, and a pressure sensor. The pressure source is fluidly connected to a housing having at least one sealing member. The valve is fluidly connected to the pressure source and the housing. The valve is movable between a first open position and a closed position. The pressure sensor is arranged to provide a first signal indicative of a pressure within the housing.

In-vehicle seal integrity verification system

A motor housing provided with a power pack assembly for a power steering system, includes a motor housing wall and an end cap. The motor housing wall extends along a first axis between a first motor housing end and a second motor housing end. The end cap is disposed at the first motor housing end. The end cap defines a projection having a first portion that extends along the first axis and a second portion that extends along a second axis that is offset from the first axis. The second portion is arranged to receive a valve assembly.
