A deformable electronic device includes a flexible display, one or more sensors, at least one imager, and one or more processors. The one or more sensors detect deformation of the deformable electronic device. The at least one imager, which is disposed beneath the flexible display, captures one or more images of an identifiable marker of the flexible display in response to the one or more sensors detecting the deformation of the deformable electronic device. The one or more processors estimate an amount of the deformation of the deformable electronic device as a function of how far the identifiable marker of the flexible display translates across the at least one imager during the deformation of the deformable electronic device.

A first communication device includes a first display device having a first graphical user interface (GUI). A first image capturing device of the first communication device has a field of view that captures a face of a first user viewing the first GUI. The first image capturing device generates a first image stream of the field of view. A controller of the communication device identifies a look target area of the first GUI proximate to the first image capturing device. The controller presents visual content on the first GUI within the look target area to prompt the first user viewing the first GUI to look towards the look target area.

Implementations for masking for mitigating visual contrast of a camera region of a display are described. Generally, the described techniques provide ways for mitigating visual differences between a camera region and other regions of a display. For instance, visual masks can be generated and displayed overlapping and/or peripherally to a camera region of a display to smooth a visual transition between the camera region and other regions of the display. The masks, for example, are displayed in regions of the display that surround the camera region. Further, color attributes of the masks can be configured to provide a gradual visual transition from color output at the camera region to color output at other regions of the display.

For adjusting color values in image data for an emissive display, a method receives a frame of image data and adjusts a color value of a first color component by predetermined amount and identifies a white point from the adjusted color value of the first color component for each pixel in the frame of image data. The method remaps, for each pixel in the frame of image data, color values for a second color component and for a third color component based on the white point and controls the emissive display to present the frame of image data using the adjusted color value and the remapped color values. The method includes detecting initiation of an application. The method further includes searching at least one database for an application profile associated with the application. In response to locating the application profile within the at least one database, the application profile is applied to the display, with the application-specific ALS data replacing/overriding the default ALS data.

A method includes tracking one or more characteristics of an active portion of a foldable display. The active portion of the foldable display includes a portion of the foldable display that is enabled when the display is folded. The method includes determining an inactive portion of the foldable display that is disabled while the active portion of the foldable display is enabled when the display is folded. The method includes activating the inactive portion of the foldable display based on the one or more characteristics of the active portion of the foldable display such that usage of the active and inactive portions of the foldable display is substantially uniform.
