Methods and systems for providing a network graphical representation of database records. Database records of a record class can be selected according to descriptive criteria. An attribute of the record class can be identified from different data sources, and a network node can be associated to an instance of the attribute from the database records. The network node can be connected with a network link that designates the network node and comprises a common instance of the attribute, wherein the network link can be based on a co-occurrence of attribute values. Additional network nodes can be connected to other network nodes with network links that designate associations between the network nodes. The database records can be visualized using network nodes and network links.

Methods for Providing a Network Graphical Representation of Database Records. Database records are selected according to descriptive criteria, wherein each of the database records are members of a common record class. Attributes of the common record class and identified and network nodes are associated to instances of the attributes from the database records. The network nodes are connected with network links that designate network nodes having common instances of the attributes such that the network nodes have a one-to-many relationship with the network links. The identifying and connecting steps are iteratively executed while modifying the descriptive criteria to change the selected database records.

A system, method, and computer program product for processing data are described herein. The system maintains first databases of patents, and second databases of non-patent information of interest to a corporate entity. The system also maintains one or more groups. Each of the groups comprises any number of the patents from the first databases. The system, upon receiving appropriate operator commands, automatically processes the patents in one of the groups in conjunction with non-patent information from the second databases. A system, method, and computer program product of enabling a user to organize and analyze information in electronic form are described herein. The method operates by searching a first set of documents to thereby generate a second set of documents. The method automatically creates a first group comprising the second set of documents. The method analyzes the first group according to one or more analytical functions to thereby generate a third set of documents. The method automatically creates a second group comprising the third set of documents. The method enables selective iteration of any of these operational steps. The method also generates objects corresponding to process components of this work flow. The user can re-execute the work flow (process) by traversing the objects, or create a new process by modifying the objects.

A system and method for assisting in the preparation of a document, and for analyzing a document, such as a patent or patent application, are described herein. The system aids a user to verify that terms in a patent application are being used consistently. The system also facilitates editing of the patent application so as to achieve terminology consistency. The system operates by allowing a user to select a document containing a patent application. The user then selects the specification portion of the patent application, and also selects the claims portion of the patent application. The system indexes the specification portion and the claims portion to thereby generate a merged index table. The system analyzes the merged index table to identify terms in the claims portion that are not present in the specification portion, and then displays these terms (called claim terms). A user can then edit the patent application so as to properly describe these terms in the specification.
