A method for a diagnostic headline system using simple linguistic terms is described. The method comprises receiving historical and current performance data for a component of a system. An anomaly is determined in the current performance data by comparing the current performance data and the historical performance data for the component. The anomaly is determined whether or not it indicates an error in the system. The cause of the anomaly is determined. Steps for addressing the cause of the anomaly are recommended. A display is formatted of the current performance data, the error, and the recommended steps for addressing the cause of the anomaly.

Presenting diagnostic headlines using simple linguistic terms

A method for diagnosing system anomalies and presenting recommended solutions is described. The method comprises receiving current component performance data and historical component performance data regarding performance of a component of a multi-tier system. A baseline tier performance for each tier and a baseline component performance is determined. A cause of an anomaly in the performance of the component is determined by discovering deviations in current component performance data and current tier performance in compared to their baseline values. Based on these deviations, a recommended procedure for addressing the cause of the anomaly is determined. A display is formatted within a user interface of the recommended procedure for addressing the cause of the anomaly in the performance of the component.

Diagnosing anomalies based on deviation analysis

A method includes determining utilization metrics and range data for each of a plurality of system components and formatting for display a list comprising the plurality of system components and respective component attributes of the system components. The component attributes include the respective utilization metrics over a selected time range. The method further includes determining, using a processor, a selected system component based on a cursor position with respect to the list of system components and, in response to determining the selected system component, formatting for display a gauge indicative of the selected system component. The gauge includes an average utilization of the selected system component over the selected time range. The gauge also includes the range data that includes a minimum utilization of the selected system component over the selected time range and a maximum utilization of the selected system component over the selected time range.

System and method for rapidly assessing system components with gauges

A method includes determining utilization metrics and trend data for each of a plurality of system components. The method also includes formatting for display a list comprising the plurality of system components and respective component attributes of the system components. The component attributes include the respective utilization metrics over a selected time range. The method also includes determining, using a processor, a selected system component based on a cursor position with respect to the list of system components. The method further includes, in response to determining the selected system component, formatting for display a graph indicative of the selected system component. The graph includes the trend data of the selected system component over the selected time range. The graph and the list of system components are formatted to be displayed simultaneously.

System and method for rapidly assessing system components with trend charts

A lockout prevention system includes a management Information Handling System (IHS) that is coupled through a network to network interface on a networking device. The networking device receives a configuration instruction through the network interface from the management IHS. The networking device then determines that the application of the configuration instruction will inhibit the communication between the management IHS and the networking device through the network interface. The networking device then provide a warning message for display on the management IHS in response to determining that the application of the configuration instruction will inhibit the communication between the management IHS and the networking device through the network interface.

Lockout prevention system

An access control list lockout prevention system includes a network. A first administrator Information Handling System (IHS) is coupled to the network. A networking device is communicatively connected to the first administrator IHS through the network. The networking device is configured to receive an access control list instruction from the first administrator IHS. The networking device then determines that at least one administrator IHS that is communicatively connected to the networking device will lose access to the networking device in response to execution of the access control list instruction. In response to determining that the at least one administrator IHS will lose access to the networking device in response to execution of the access control list instruction, the networking device provides a warning message for display on the first administrator IHS.

Access control list lockout prevention system

A method for detecting a topology change in a communication network. The method includes measuring a minimum latency value of a communication between two devices in the communication network for each of a plurality of time cycles, identifying an increase in the minimum latency values among the plurality of time cycles, and detecting a topology change in response to a determination that the increase in minimum latency values is maintained for more than a predetermined number of time cycles.

Method and system for detecting network topology change

Methods include receiving a threshold time to live ('TTL') value associated with a license. The methods include determining a first TTL value based on the threshold TTL value. The methods include transmitting a polling request including the first TTL value from a polling device disposed at the network location to a network device. The first TTL value decreases each time the polling request transits through a node device. The methods include receiving a polling response from the network device if the first TTL value has not decreased to a predetermined value before the polling request is received by the network device. The methods include determining that the license permits communication between a monitoring device disposed at the network location and the network device in response to receiving the polling response.
