Disclosed are various techniques for lighting control of groups of light fixtures by a remote device. The remote device receives, via a wireless network interface, an identifier from a photocontrol device that manages light output of the light fixture. The remote device transmits a request to establish a point-to-point communication session directly with the photocontrol device using the wireless network interface. Upon establishing the communication session, the remote device receives a list of photocontrols discovered by the photocontrol device via the photocontrol network. In response to input received, via a user interface of the remote device, to adjust a dimming schedule for a group of the photocontrols, the remote device instructs the photocontrol device to transmit, via the photocontrol network, an adjustment to a configuration for the group.

Networking groups of photocontrol devices

Disclosed are various methods for lighting control of a light fixture by a remote device. The remote device receives, via a wireless network interface, an identifier from a photocontrol device that manages light output of the light fixture. The remote device transmits a request to establish a point-to-point communication session directly with the photocontrol device using the wireless network interface. Upon receiving an acknowledgement from the photocontrol device confirming establishment of the communication session, the remote device uses the established communication session for receiving a configuration for the photocontrol device. In response to input received, via a user interface of the remote device, to adjust a dimming schedule for the photocontrol device, the remote device instructs the photocontrol device to modify its configuration based upon the received input.

Remotely programming a photocontrol device

Disclosed are various embodiments for remote lighting control by a processor of photocontrol device for a light fixture. The photocontrol receives, via a wireless network interface, a request to establish a communication session with a remote device using the wireless network interface. The request includes an authentication credential. A command is received, via the communication session with the remote device, to control light output produced from the light fixture. The photocontrol initiates performance of the command for the light fixture, where the command supersedes any other command from ambient light sensing logic of the photocontrol device. The photocontrol device indicates a result of the performance of the command.

Techniques for remote communication with a photocontrol device

A system includes a relay, an actuation circuit, and an actuation delay circuit. The relay is coupled to a source of an input voltage or current waveform. The relay includes an actuation coil. The actuation circuit detects a peak or valley of a rectified voltage ripple waveform. The rectified voltage ripple waveform is generated from the input voltage or current waveform. The actuation circuit also causes an actuation voltage to be provided to the actuation coil. The actuation delay circuit delays the actuation circuit from providing the actuation voltage. The actuation delay circuit is configured based on the peak or valley of the rectified voltage ripple waveform. The actuation delay generated by the actuation delay circuit causes the relay to begin allowing current to flow to a load device at a time coincident with a zero-crossing time value of the input voltage or current waveform.

Systems and methods for delaying actuation of a relay

An intelligent thermostat communicates with battery-powered threat detectors, such as smoke detectors, to allow remote quieting and coordination of a low battery warning detected by the threat detector. In one embodiment, the threat detector transmits a pre-warning signal to the thermostat indicating that a low battery condition is imminent. The thermostat uses this information to display a pre-warning to the consumer so that the consumer may better coordinate replacing of the battery at a convenient time. Once a low battery condition has been detected, the threat detector transmits a low battery warning signal to the thermostat. The thermostat then displays a warning message and an option for the consumer to quiet the chirping for a period of time from the thermostat. Preferably, the thermostat automatically quiets the chirping during quite times so as to not disturb the consumer.
