In one aspect, a hybrid heat exchanger that includes a metallic serpentine tube having an inlet end portion to receive a process fluid, an outlet end portion, and a series of runs and return bends directing the process fluid from the inlet end portion to the outlet end portion of the metallic serpentine tube. The hybrid heat exchanger further includes a thermally conductive polymer body thermally integrated with the serpentine tube. The thermally conductive polymer body has an outer surface to be contacted by a fluid, such as air and/or water. The thermally conductive polymer body is configured to transfer heat between the metallic serpentine tube and the fluid contacting the outer surface of the thermally conductive polymer body. The outer surface of the thermally conductive polymer body includes surface enhancement features that affect flow of the fluid across the outer surface of the thermally conductive polymer body.

Hybrid heat exchanger

In one aspect, a tubular membrane assembly is provided for a heat exchanger. The tubular membrane assembly includes a header having a header body, a tubular membrane, and a fitting connecting the tubular membrane to the header body. The fitting is configured to form a fluid tight connection between the fitting and the tubular membrane. The tubular membrane assembly further includes potting of the header keeping the tubular membrane connected to the fitting.

Tubular membrane heat exchanger

An improved water management system with improved airflow distribution for counterflow evaporative heat exchangers is provided. Such heat exchangers include open cooling towers, closed circuit cooling towers, and evaporative condensers. The improved water management system eliminates water splash out and the noise associated with water splashing. Further when the fan assemblies are located below the evaporative heat exchanger, the improved water management system keeps the fans dry and prevents freezing in subzero climates.

Water collection arrangement

An improved heat exchange apparatus is provided with an indirect evaporative heat exchange section consisting of a series of serpentine tubes which are kept uniformly spaced in the return bend section. Providing uniform return bend spacing on the return bend ends allow for ease of circuit assembly (stacking), ease of coil pull-down, ease of manufacturing, reduction in production cost, produces a higher quality hot dip galvanizing process and is a more robust design that tolerates manufacturing variability issues such as variable tube circuit length and variable return bend angles. Uniform return bend spacing also reduces scaling relative to prior art designs which had wet/dry areas resulting from shadowed tubes which were non-uniformly spaced, provides for better inspection and access to the tubes in the return bend area, maintains uniform air passage around tubes, promotes better tube wetting of the return bend area and ultimately promotes higher quality and higher performing heat exchanger coils.

Cooling tower

A motor mount and fan sheave assembly is provided comprising two main structural supports, with a motor mount attached to the two main structural supports such that the motor mount can slide along the two main structural supports. A motor is affixed to the motor mount, and a fan sheave affixed to the two main structural supports. A motor sheave extends from the motor, and a belt spans between the motor sheave and the fan sheave. A threaded rod passes through a receiving opening in the motor mount, such that wherein upon movement of the adjusting rod, the motor mount slides along the two main structural supports.

Cooling tower mechanical support

A fill sheet for use in a fill arrangement in a direct heat exchange section of a cooling tower is provided. Each fill sheet includes ridges, grooves, separators, that improve the performance of the fill sheet arrangement when installed as a direct heat exchange section of a cooling tower. The separators are located in minor air paths between the fill sheet to improve the air flow capabilities and performance of the direct heat exchange section.
