A cable includes a pair of wires each having a conductor and a wire insulation layer wrapped around the conductor, an inner insulation layer wrapped around the wire insulation layer of each of the wires and fixing the wires, a metal shielding layer wrapped around an outer surface of the inner insulation layer, and an outer insulation layer wrapped around an outer surface of the metal shielding layer. The metal shielding layer has an insulating substrate and a metal conductive layer coated on the insulating substrate. The metal conductive layer of the metal shielding layer faces the outer insulation layer.

Cable and a combined cable

A card edge connector assembly includes a pluggable module having a paddle card with a card edge and a card edge connector having a housing defining a card slot receiving the card edge. The housing holds contacts in the card slot to electrically connect to corresponding contact pads of the paddle card. Support hardware is coupled to the pluggable module and includes first and second mounting legs. The first mounting leg has a first mounting foot and the second mounting leg has a second mounting foot configured to be mounted to the host circuit board to support the pluggable module on the host circuit board independent of the card edge connector.

Card edge connector assembly

An electrical device includes a circuit board having upper signal contacts and at least one upper ground contact along an upper surface of the circuit board. The electrical device also includes a communication cable including a differential pair of signal conductors, a shield layer that surrounds the signal conductors, a drain wire electrically coupled with the shield layer, and a cable jacket that surrounds the shield layer and the drain wire. Each of the signal conductors has a wire-terminating end engaged to a corresponding signal contact of the circuit board. The wire-terminating ends project beyond a jacket edge of the cable jacket. An upper ground-terminating component electrically couples to the upper ground contact having a main panel with a connective terminal electrically coupled to the drain wire.

An electrical power contact includes a mating segment having a mating interface at which the electrical power contact is configured to mate with a mating contact. The mating segment includes an electrically conductive base layer, and an electrically conductive outer layer that includes the mating interface. The mating segment also includes a circuit protection layer that extends between the base layer and the outer layer. The circuit protection layer provides an electrical pathway between the base layer and the outer layer. The circuit protection layer includes a selectively conductive material that is configured to open the electrical pathway between the base layer and the outer layer when an electrical current above a predetermined threshold is passed through the circuit protection layer.

A connector is provided and includes a housing with an electronic module receiving passageway positioned therein. The housing includes a first housing and a second housing. The first housing includes a pair of first sidewalls positioned opposite from each other and a pair of partitions forming a slot extending along each of the pair of first sidewalls. The second housing includes a pair of second sidewalls positioned opposite one another, an extension disposed on each the pair of second sidewalls and corresponding with the slot, and a plurality of ribs extending outward from the extension and corresponding with inner surface of the pair of partitions.

A protective cover is provided for a connector that is mounted to a host structure. The cover includes a metal shell having a body defined by at least one shell segment that includes a base and a support wall that extends outward from the base. The support wall includes an interior side that defines a connector pocket configured to receive a corresponding sub-segment of a cantilevered connector segment of the connector. The base of the shell segment is configured to be mounted to the host structure with the support wall extending outward from the host structure over the corresponding sub-segment of the cantilevered connector segment such that the body of the metal shell is cantilevered from the host structure around at least a portion of a circumference and along at least a portion of a length of the cantilevered connector segment to provide a metal barrier that covers at least a portion of the cantilevered connector segment.

Coaxial connector

A coaxial connector includes a center contact, an outer contact and a dielectric insert received in the outer contact and holding the center contact. The dielectric insert may have structural features that extend axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps between the structural features. The outer contact may include a rear housing that is interchangeably coupled to either a plug housing or a jack housing at the housing interface. The center contact may be configured to be terminated by a plurality of different termination techniques in different applications.

A coaxial connector includes a center contact and a board contact coupled to the center contact that is terminated to a circuit board. An outer contact has a cavity that receives the center contact and board contact. The outer contact has a separable interface end mated to a mating connector and a terminating end mounted to the circuit board. A circuit board mount is coupled to the terminating end and electrically connects the outer contact to the circuit board. A dielectric insert is received in the cavity and includes a bore that receives and holds either the center contact or the board contact. The dielectric insert has structural features extending axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps being defined between the structural features. The structural features engage the outer contact to secure the dielectric insert in the cavity.

A coaxial connector includes a center contact electrically connected to a conductor of a cable. The center contact extends along a contact axis oriented generally perpendicular to an axis of the conductor of the cable. An outer contact has a cavity and the center contact is disposed in the cavity. The outer contact has a separable interface end and a terminating end. The separable interface end and terminating end are oriented generally perpendicular to one another. A dielectric insert is received in the cavity. The dielectric insert has a bore that receives and holds the center contact. The dielectric insert has structural features extending axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert, with air gaps defined between the structural features. The structural features engage the outer contact to secure the dielectric insert in the cavity.

A coaxial connector includes a center contact and an outer contact. The outer contact has a central cavity and the center contact is disposed in the central cavity. The outer contact has a mating end configured to be mated to a mating connector and a terminating end configured to be mounted to a circuit board. A circuit board mount is coupled to the terminating end and is configured to mechanically and electrically connect the outer contact to the circuit board. A dielectric insert is received in the central cavity and holds the center contact. The dielectric insert has structural features extending axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps therebetween. The structural features engage the outer contact to secure the dielectric insert in the central cavity.

A connector assembly includes a receptacle connector that has a housing, a lever arm, and a center contact. The housing defines an interior chamber. The lever arm is pivotally joined to the housing. The center contact is disposed within the interior chamber and is oriented along a longitudinal axis of the receptacle connector. The mating connector includes a plug body and an axial conductive member. The axial conductive member is disposed in the plug body along a center axis of the plug body. The lever arm of the receptacle connector engages the plug body of the mating connector when the plug body is received in the interior chamber and pivots relative to the housing to drive the plug body within the interior chamber and mate the axial conductive member with the center contact.

Coaxial latching connector assembly

An electrical connector assembly is configured to be mounted to a circuit board having opposite first and second sides that are interconnected by a board edge. The connector assembly includes first and second connectors disposed along the board edge. The connectors are configured to mate with at least one of mating connectors and a circuit board of an external device to electrically couple the first and second connectors with the external device. Each of the first and second connectors has a center signal contact and a shield shell that extends around the center signal contact. The center signal contact of the first connector engages the first side of the circuit board and the center signal contact of the second connector engages the second side of the circuit board. The first and second connectors mate with the at least one of the mating connectors and the circuit board along parallel mating directions.

An electrical connector assembly includes a coaxial connector structure having a center contact configured to be surface mounted to an upper surface of a circuit board at a board edge of the circuit board. The center contact extends along a contact axis in an axial direction. A shielded housing block extends rearward from the coaxial connector structure. The shielded housing block has a shielded chamber receiving a portion of the center contact with an open bottom extending along the upper surface of the circuit board. A shield member engages at least one of the coaxial connector structure and the shielded housing block. The shield member extends along at least a portion of the open bottom of the shielded chamber in the axial direction.
