A method and system for identification of ship state tonal parameters during an approach and landing of an aircraft on a ship is provided. The method comprises determining whether ship state data is available to the aircraft prior to landing of the aircraft, and when the ship state data is available to the aircraft, receiving the ship state data at the aircraft and estimating tonal parameters of the ship state data. When the ship state data is not available to the aircraft, a determination is made whether a ship tonal parameter estimation is complete. When the ship tonal parameter estimation is complete, ship state data is estimated using any last received ship state data and estimates of the ship tonal parameters. One or more relative navigation algorithms are then run using the received ship state data or the estimated ship state data to safely land the aircraft on the ship.

Identification of ship state tonal parameters for use in relative GPS shipboard landing systems

A method of detecting signal faults comprises sampling at least three redundant signals; calculating a difference signal for each unique pair-wise comparison of the at least three sampled redundant signals; comparing each difference signal to an expected distribution for the difference signals; and determining if one of the at least three redundant signals is faulty based on the comparison of each difference signal to the expected distribution.

Fault detection and isolation of redundant signals

A method for guiding the approach and landing of an aircraft is provided. The method involves receiving navigation information from the aircraft, receiving navigation information from an aircraft carrier, integrating the navigation information from the aircraft with the navigation information from the aircraft carrier to determine a relative velocity and a relative position between the aircraft and the aircraft carrier, and propagating the relative velocity and the relative position forward in time for navigation purposes.

Methods and systems of relative navigation for shipboard landings

A method to determine a relative position between antennae comprising generating phase carrier measurements for a carrier frequency and at least three antennae including a master antenna and other antennae, generating phase integer sets based on the phase carrier measurements, and calculating a relative position between the master antenna and at least one other antenna based on the generated phase integer sets and a fixed baseline between two of the other antennae.
