Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power communication. In one aspect a wireless power receiver configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmitter is provided. The wireless power receiver includes a switchable element configured to couple a receive coil to a ground voltage. The wireless power receiver further includes a detector coupled to the receive coil and configured to detect an externally generated pulse.

Wireless power peer to peer communication

Exemplary embodiments are directed to detection and validation of wirelessly chargeable devices positioned within a charging region of a wireless power transmitter. A device may include a wireless power transmitter configured detect a change in at least one parameter at the transmitter. The transmitter may further be configured to determine whether at least one valid chargeable device is positioned within a charging region of the transmitter upon detecting the change in the at least one parameter.

Low power detection of wireless power devices

Embodiments are directed to detecting and identifying a type of a wireless power device in a wireless power transfer field. According to one aspect, a method for identifying a type of an object within a power transfer region of a wireless power transmitter configured to transfer power to a device including a wireless power receiver is provided. The method includes monitoring a change in a power drawn by the wireless power transmitter. The method further includes receiving, from the wireless power receiver, a signal indicative of a change in power received by the wireless power receiver. The method further includes identifying the type of the object based on the monitored change in the power drawn and the received signal.

Systems and methods for detecting and identifying a wireless power device

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for waking a wireless power transmitter from beacon mode. In one aspect a wireless power receiver apparatus is provided. The wireless power receiver apparatus includes a receive circuit comprising a receive coil. This receive circuit is coupled to a load. The receive circuit is configured to wirelessly receive power from a transmitter device at a first power level to power the load. The wireless power receiver apparatus further includes an adjustment circuit configured to be powered by using the wirelessly received power. The adjustment circuit is further configured to adjust a characteristic of the load using the wirelessly received power for a period of time to cause a detectable change in an operating characteristic of the transmitter device for the period of time.

Waking up a wireless power transmitter from beacon mode

Embodiments are directed to detecting and identifying a type of a wireless power device in a wireless power transfer field. According to one aspect, systems and methods are disclosed which describe limiting power transfer to non-compliant devices and detection of undesired power absorbers, such as metal objects, in a wireless power system. A method may include detecting one or more non-compliant devices and/or undesired wireless power absorbers positioned within a charging region of a wireless power transmitter. The method may further include limiting an amount of power transmitted by a transmitter in response to the detection, or reducing the amount of power received by the non-compliant device.

Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power charging. A device may include at least one sensing element for measuring at least one parameter within a receiver configured to receive wirelessly transmitted power. The device may include a switching element configured to enable the receiver to convey energy to a load when the at least one parameter exceeds a threshold value.

Wireless charging of devices

Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power transfer. Energy from a transmit antenna is coupled to internal signals on a transmitter. An impedance measurement circuit generates an impedance indication signal for indicating an impedance difference between the coupled internal signals by comparing them. A controller samples the impedance indication signal and determines digital signaling values responsive to changes in the impedance indication signal. The impedance measurement circuit measures one or more of magnitude difference of the internal signals, phase difference of the internal signals, and changes in power consumed by an amplifier coupled between the RF signal and the transmit antenna. A transmitter generates the electromagnetic field with a transmit antenna responsive to a Radio Frequency (RF) signal to create a coupling-mode region within a near field of the transmit antenna.

Impedance change detection in wireless power transmission

Exemplary embodiments are directed to forward link signaling. A method may include modulating an input bias signal of a power amplifier according to data to be transmitted on a wireless power transmit signal. The method may further include modulating an amplitude of the wireless power transmit signal generated by the power amplifier in response to the modulated input bias signal.

Forward link signaling within a wireless power system

Apparatus and methods are operable to receive a first and second version of an ordered list having a first and second plurality of ordered entries, wherein each of the plurality of ordered entries has a corresponding order index. Further, the apparatus and methods are operable to compare respective ordered entries from the first and second versions of the ordered list at a respective order index. Also, the apparatus and methods are operable to assign a penalty to each possible current list resulting from reconciling the first version and the second version of the ordered list when the comparing identifies a difference between respective ordered entries at the respective order index. Moreover, the apparatus and methods are operable to generate, based on the comparing, at least a portion of all possible current lists, and select and store one of the possible current lists as the current list based on the penalties.
