A device for controlling, detecting, and measuring a molecular complex is disclosed. The device comprises a common electrode. The device further comprises a plurality of measurement cells. Each measurement cell includes a cell electrode and an integrator electronically coupled to the cell electrode. The integrator measures the current flowing between the common electrode and the cell electrode. The device further comprises a plurality of analog-to-digital converters, wherein an integrator from the plurality of measurement cells is electrically coupled to one analog-to-digital converter of the plurality of analog-to-digital converters.

Devices and methods for securely upgrading devices, such as field upgradeable units, are disclosed. In response to receiving an update object, a device may determine whether a predefined location of memory includes a predetermined value. Based on the value in the predefined location, the device may store the received update object in a verification portion of the memory. After verifying the authenticity of the update object, the device may copy the update object from the verification portion of the memory to an inactive portion. The inactive portion of the memory can be swapped with an active portion of the memory, such that the inactive portion becomes active.

The present disclosure provides devices, systems and methods for sequencing nucleic acid molecules. Nucleic acid molecules can be sequenced with a high accuracy (e.g., greater than 97% in a single pass) using a chip comprising an array of independently addressable nanopore sensors at a density of at least about 500 sites per 1 mm. An individual nanopore sensor can include a nanopore in a membrane that is adjacent or in proximity to a sensing electrode.

An Error Correction Code (ECC) encoding module encodes an input data word by calculating parity bits according to an ECC index mapping. An ECC correction/detection module receives the encoded data word that may have become corrupted due to noise or distortion. The ECC correction/detection module executes a parity calculation on the encoded data word based on the ECC index mapping. Based on the parity calculation, the ECC correction/detection module can detect and correct a single bit error, detect if there is an error to an even number of bits, and detect the occurrence of a three consecutive bit burst error.
