A chemical vapour deposition process for preparing a coated glass substrate, said process comprising at least the following steps in sequence: a) providing a glass substrate having a surface, b) depositing a layer based on SiCO and/or SiNO on the surface of the glass substrate, c) exposing the layer based on SiCO and/or SiNO to a gaseous mixture (i) comprising water, and d) subsequently depositing a layer based on a TCO over the layer based on SiCO and/or SiNO.

Process for preparing a coated glass substrate

A process for depositing on a surface of a substrate a layer based on a metal oxide doped with magnesium or a mixed metal oxide containing magnesium. The process includes providing a substrate having a surface, forming a gaseous mixture comprising a non-halogenated source of a metal and a source of magnesium, delivering the gaseous mixture to the surface of the substrate, and depositing the layer based on a metal oxide doped with magnesium or a mixed metal oxide containing magnesium on the surface of the substrate.

A method for coating glass containers provides improved tensile strength (hence improved resistance to internal pressure). The method lends itself in particular to implementation as part of a continuous production process by utilising residual heat from the bottle casting step. The use of residual heat from an existing process offer considerable environmental benefits.

Transparent conducting electrodes incorporate an interface layer located on the transparent conducting oxide (TCO) layer of the electrode. The interface layer offers a suitable surface for deposition of further layers in order to fabricate electronic devices such as electrochromic devices or organic light emitting diodes. Problems such as pinholes and short circuiting, associated with the inherent roughness of the TCO layer, are reduced.

A process for coating a ribbon of float glass is disclosed. It comprises the steps of forming a glass ribbon, depositing a first transparent conductive coating upon a major surface of the ribbon which does not extend to the edges of the ribbon while the ribbon is at an elevated temperature, cooling said coated ribbon under controlled conditions in an annealing lehr and cutting off the edges of the ribbon so as to produce a ribbon having a uniform coating extending across the full width of the cut ribbon which is characterized in that a second conductive coating is deposited upon the uncoated edges of the ribbon while that edge is at a temperature which is above the ambient temperature. The invention finds particular application in the production of coated glass products where the thickness of the glass ribbon is at least 8 mm and most particularly where the thickness of the glass is at least 10 mm.

A low-resistivity, doped zinc oxide coated glass article is formed by providing a hot glass substrate having a surface on which a coating is to be deposited, the surface being at a temperature of at least 400&#xb0; C. A zinc containing compound, an oxygen-containing compound and an aluminum- or gallium-containing compound are directed to the surface on which the coating is to be deposited. The zinc containing compound, oxygen-containing compound, and aluminum- or gallium-containing compound are mixed together for a sufficient time that an aluminum or gallium doped zinc oxide coating is formed on the surface at a deposition rate of greater than 5 nm/second.

What is described and claimed is an atmospheric chemical vapor deposition method of making a low-resistivity, doped zinc oxide coated glass article, made by directing one or more streams of gaseous reactants, specifically a zinc containing compound, a fluorine containing compound, an oxygen containing compound, and at least one compound containing one or more of boron, aluminum, gallium and indium onto a surface of a heated glass substrate.

Dual coated glass sheets comprise a photocatalytically active self cleaning coating on one surface and heat reflecting coating on the second surface selected so that its single surface reflectivity is either at least three times or less than one third that of the self cleaning coating. The selection of the heat reflecting coating provides a sheet having an improved appearance. Such dual coated sheets combine self cleaning properties with solar control or low emissivity properties and are useful as building glasses.

Coated glass

A process for the production of durable photocatalytically active self-cleaning coating on glass by contacting a hot glass surface with a fluid mixture of titanium chloride, a source of oxygen and a tin precursor. The coating preferably comprises less than 10 atom % tin in the bulk of the coating and preferably there is a greater atomic percent tin in the surface of the coating than there is in the bulk of the coating. Preferably, the coating is durable to abrasion and humidity cycling.

Process for coating glass

A glass article having a solar control coating is disclosed for use in producing heat reducing glass especially for use in architectural windows. The coated article includes a glass substrate, a coating of an antimony doped tin oxide deposited on and adhering to the glass substrate and a coating of fluorine doped tin oxide deposited on and adhering to the surface of the coating of antimony doped tin oxide. The low emittance of the coated glass article, when combined with the surprisingly selective solar absorption of the multilayer stack provides improved heat rejection in summer and heat retention in winter, while permitting the transmittance of a relatively high degree of visible light.

Glass article having a solar control coating

A color neutral absorbing film is applied as a coating on a glass substrate, to which a conductive coating is first applied. An additional metal oxide layer is deposited on the absorbing film. The coating is suitable for use in anti-reflective coatings containing other metal oxides or mixed metal oxides to achieve a coated glass article having a visible light transmittance of 30% or greater and a reflectance of less than 5%. The coated glass article is absorbing, anti-reflective and conducting.

A niobium doped tin oxide coating is applied onto a glass substrate to produce a low emissivity (low E) glass. The coating can optionally be doped with both niobium and other dopant(s), such as fluorine. The low emissivity glass has properties comparable or superior to conventional low E glass with fluorine doped tin oxide coatings.
