An applicator for administering a liquid to a selected location of a patient includes a main body having an interior cavity and a flexible outer wall. A frangible ampoule is configured to contain the liquid and configured to be positioned within the interior cavity of the main body. A hypodermic tube having a proximal end attached to the main body and a distal end. An applicator tip attached to the distal end of the hypodermic tube to dispense the liquid.

A corner protector for position about a corner of an equipment sterilization tray includes a base portion having a perimeter and a first concave recess. A first wall portion extends from a first portion of the perimeter of the base portion and comprises a second concave recess. A second wall portion extends from a second portion of the perimeter and comprises a third concave recess wherein the first and second wall portions are substantially perpendicular to each other. A connecting portion extends from a third portion of the perimeter wherein the connecting portion connects the first and second wall portions to form a continuous wall.

Disclosed is an apparatus for oxygenating and controlling the temperature of blood in an extracorporeal circuit. The apparatus has an inlet and an outlet that is located radially outward from the inlet in order to define a flowpath through the apparatus. The apparatus comprises: a core that is substantially centrally located in the apparatus and to which blood from a patient can be supplied through the inlet; a heat exchanger comprising a plurality of heat transfer elements that are arranged around the core and between which blood from the core can move radially outward; and an oxygenator comprising a plurality of gas exchange elements that are arranged around the heat exchanger and between which blood from the heat exchanger can move radially outward before exiting the apparatus through the outlet.

A pump rotor for a roller pump, is disclosed. The rotor comprises: a first roller support comprising a first roller; a second roller support comprising a second roller; an element in the center connected to the first and second roller supports, wherein the first and second roller supports may move angularly with respect to the center element causing distance between the first and second rollers to be varied; first and second positioning elements that connect the first and second roller supports, respectively, to the center element; and first and second spring biased components surrounding first and second positioning elements, respectively, to allow the first and second roller supports to move to allow for automatic adjustment of the rotor.

A double syringe delivery system is disclosed for holding a pair of syringes in a manner so as to accommodate the simultaneous activation of the plunger of each syringe in order to effect simultaneous delivery of the contents of each syringe. The delivery system includes a delivery mechanism for delivering the contents of both syringes to a site of application. The delivery system further includes a support member that is positioned between the two syringe bodies. The elongated support member has resilient, C-shaped clamps on one end of the support member. The clamps are designed to be removably clamped onto the applicator so that the syringe barrels will be held together in a parallel manner. The elongated support member further comprises finger grips. A plunger connects the two syringe plungers so that they can also be simultaneously activated.

A centrifugal method, and corresponding system, for processing blood to collect platelet rich plasma. A separation chamber is filled with blood from a fill syringe by rotating the separation chamber at a fill rotation rate and pumping the blood from the fill syringe. A soft spin is used to initially separate red blood cells from platelets by spinning the separation chamber at a soft spin rate. A percentage of the blood is drawn from the separation chamber back into the fill syringe to remove separated red blood cells. A second portion of the separated blood is drawn from the separation chamber until a red blood cell/platelet interface is detected. A hard spin is performed by spinning the separation chamber at a higher rate and connecting tubing is cleared of red blood cells by drawing a predetermined clearing volume. The platelet rich plasma is then collected in the collection syringe.
