A fuel injector for a turbine engine includes a fuel scheduling valve configured for regulation of fuel flow from a fuel inlet, in response to fuel pressure received at the fuel inlet. Primary, secondary and auxiliary fuel circuits receive fuel from the scheduling valve, and an electrically-controlled valve is provided in fluid communication with the auxiliary circuit, which electrically-controlled valve is adapted and configured to actively control fuel through the auxiliary circuit in response to a control signal.

Variable restriction of fuel nozzle with an auxiliary circuit

A fuel system can include a total flow line configured to receive a total flow and a primary flow line connected to the total flow line. The primary flow line can be in fluid communication with one or more primary fuel nozzles of a nozzle assembly. The fuel system can include a secondary flow line connected to the total flow line in parallel with the primary flow line, the secondary flow line in fluid communication with a plurality of secondary flow nozzles of the nozzle assembly. The fuel system can include a flow split system configured to control a flow split between a primary flow of the primary flow line and a secondary flow of the secondary flow line.

Fuel systems

A shut-off valve system includes a tank having an inlet and an outlet with a flow path defined therebetween. A float within the tank occludes the tank outlet at a first fluid level under positive G forces and unoccludes the tank outlet at a second fluid level under positive G forces. A flow restricting orifice and/or a hydraulic fuse is downstream of float and tank outlet to restrict fluid communication between tank outlet and an ejector pump. A method for restricting flow in an ecology fuel return system includes recovering fuel from engine components, communicating the fuel to an inlet of a fuel tank, pumping the fuel from an outlet of fuel tank to an inlet of an engine when a float within tank unoccludes the outlet of the fuel tank, and restricting fluid flow from tank outlet to an ejector pump with a flow restricting orifice and/or a hydraulic fuse.

Ecology fuel return systems

A system and method for the calculation of a fuel lacquer index using environmental monitoring is disclosed. The system and method may comprise: capturing a fuel temperature data; determining a fuel quality rating; calculating a volumetric fuel flow; calculating a fuel filter differential pressure; and calculating a fuel lacquer index. The fuel lacquer index may be calculated as a percentage value based upon the fuel temperature data, the fuel quality rating, the volumetric fuel flow, and the fuel filter differential pressure.

An ecology system includes an ecology tank, a check valve, a shutoff valve, and an ejector pump. The check valve is fluidly connected to the ecology tank and is configured to allow flow from the ecology tank. The shutoff valve is fluidly connected to the check valve, and the ejector pump is fluidly connected to the shutoff valve. The ejector pump is configured to draw fuel from the ecology tank when the shutoff valve is in an open configuration.

A shut-off valve includes a float and a negative G control component. The float is configured to occlude a tank outlet at a first fluid level and 1 G and unocclude the tank outlet at a second fluid level and 1 G. The negative G control component is operatively connected to the float to limit fluid, e.g. liquid or gas, communication between a tank outlet and an ejector pump during negative G events. An ecology fuel return system includes a tank, an ejector pump, a float, and a negative G control component, as described above. The tank has an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is configured to be in fluid communication with components of an engine. The ejector pump is in fluid communication with the tank outlet and is configured to pump fuel from the tank to a fuel pump inlet of an engine.

A system to provide differential movement between a first surface, a second surface and a fixed surface includes a first surface movable between a first position and a second position; a second surface movable with the first surface and further movable beyond the first surface; a shaft connected to the second surface to move the second surface; and a drive unit connected to the fixed surface to drive the shaft to move the second surface relative to the first surface and to allow the shaft to move through the drive unit when the second surface is being moved by the first surface.

Actuation system

A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine has a first pump for delivering fuel to a first use on a gas turbine engine, and a second pump for delivering fuel to a second use on the gas turbine engine. A valve allows flow from the first pump to be delivered to the first use, but also routes some flow from the first pump to supplement fuel flow from the second pump until a pressure downstream of the second pump increases. The valve then allows flow from the second pump to flow to the first use to supplement the flow from the first pump.

Fuel pumping system for a gas turbine engine

An integrated variable area fan nozzle (VAFN) and thrust reversing actuation system (TRAS) system includes movable surfaces for adjusting an exit area for bypass flow and cowls moved for directing discharge flow in a reverser manner. The movable surfaces of the VAFN and TRAS systems are both coupled for movement by a common actuator arrangement. A power drive unit drives each of the actuators on each of the actuators through a gearbox or other linkage such that one common motor or motor combination is utilized for driving all of the actuators. A series of redundant and separately actuateable locks control deployment of the surfaces of the thrust reverse system such that thrust reversing system can move to an open or deployed position only in response to each of the locks being actuated to an unlocked condition.

A method and system for providing fuel to primary and secondary fuel nozzles in a gas turbine engine fuel system comprises generating a fuel flow and routing primary fuel from the fuel flow to a primary fuel nozzle. Backpressure on the fuel flow is maintained using a valve. The valve is opened at increased fuel flow to route secondary fuel from the fuel flow to a secondary fuel nozzle. The valve is progressively opened under increasing fuel flows to reduce a pressure drop across the valve produced by the secondary fuel.

Passive equilization flow divider valve

A dual redundant actuation control system for controlling a plurality of actuators for positioning a plurality of moveable aircraft components. The actuation control system includes a component controller. The component controller includes two component control channels. Each of the plurality of actuators is electrically connected to each of the two component control channels such that either of the two component control channels may control any or all of the plurality of actuators.

A variable wash flow filter assembly includes guide that is operable to guide a wash velocity control cone between a minimal position and a maximum position. The guide defines at least one activation deltaP window downstream of a conical gap between the wash velocity control cone and a frusto-conical wash filter. The fuel flow through the conical gap and the activation deltaP window is operable to position the wash velocity control cone between the minimal position and maximum position to selectively split a fuel flow through an inlet into a burn flow through a thru flow port and a filtered flow thru the frusto-conical wash filter and filtered flow port.
