A polymeric container including a base, a body, a finish, finish threads, and a tamper lip. The finish threads are at an outer surface of the finish, and are configured to cooperate with closure threads of a closure to secure the closure to the finish. The tamper lip extends from the outer surface of the finish, and is configured to replace the support flange during handling, and to cooperate with a tamper band of the closure. A recess is below the tamper lip. The recess retains the tamper band below the tamper lip when the closure is removed from cooperation with the finish. A gripper ring is between the finish threads and the tamper lip. The gripper ring is configured to cooperate with a gripper for grasping the finish.

Lightweight polymeric container finish

A polymeric container including a base, a body, a finish, finish threads, and a tamper lip. A container is provided that includes a top portion, a bottom portion and a plurality of sidewalls that each extend from an upper limit of the bottom portion, the top portion extending from upper limits of each of the side walls such that the sidewalls are positioned between the top portion and the bottom portion. The container comprises a plurality of indents therein, the indents being arranged in a configuration to avoid top load failure. That is, the indents provide strength to the container, which makes the container stronger than containers that are made from the same material, have the same weight and the same average wall thickness, but do not include indents.

Container and method of manufacture

An apparatus for forming a blow-molded container includes a mold, a mandrel, and a die. The mold includes a bottom section for forming a container bottom, a sidewall section for forming a plurality of sidewalls, a spout section for forming a spout, and a neck section for forming an upwardly converging neck member coupling the sidewalls to the spout having a convex radius transition section of approximately three inches in a container having an overall height of approximately ten inches. The mandrel and the die are operative to form a parison that assumes an ovoid cross-section within the mold with the outer surfaces of the parison positioned approximately equidistant from sidewall section of said mold.

Method and apparatus for making a light weight container

An improved lightweight container incorporates a thinner wall structure in an essentially octagonal container having a bottom member, a plurality of sidewalls, a spout, an upwardly converging neck member coupling the sidewalls of the spout, a handle molded into the container and a radiused transiting section between the sidewalls and the spout which eliminates weakened corner sections and improves overall strength to weight ratios.
