A patient support includes a patient support surface, a fluid movement system provided at the patient support, a port mounted at the patient support in selective fluid communication with the fluid movement system, and a device selected from the group consisting of an inflatable device, a conduit, an air operated device, an actuator, a ventilator, and a chamber, with the port adapted for coupling to the device for delivering fluid to the device from the fluid movement system when the device is coupled to the port.

Patient support with universal energy supply system

A patient support including a patient support surface, a fluid movement system provided at the patient support, and a plurality of ports mounted at the patient support, which are in selective fluid communication with the fluid movement system. At least one of the ports is adapted for coupling to a device for delivering fluid to the device from the fluid movement system or delivering a vacuum pressure to the device from the fluid movement system for suctioning fluid through the device when the device is coupled to the port.

A load cell mounting assembly for a bed. The bed includes a base unit. Two pairs of lift arms are pivotally attached to the base unit. Extending between each pair of lift arms is a torque bar. A frame is secured to the torque bars by a plurality of torque bar mounting brackets. Coupled to each torque bar are a number of load cells. The load cells are electrically connected to a control unit that is configured to receive signals from the load cells and to determine patient information from the load cell signals. When the bed is in its lowest position, the load cells engage the floor and the bed is supported only by the load cells.

Improved material handling device for selective pick up, holding, and release of material is disclosed. The device includes arcuate talons mounted to a first shaft capable of pivotal movement about an offset centerline and by means of talons mounted to a second shaft exhibiting pivotal movement about an offset centerline. The talons, which move in arcuate paths, pierce a plane parallel to a plane defined by the offset centerlines substantially at right angles. The talons diverge after penetrating the pierceable material.
