An apparatus () for enabling storing of settings of a vehicle (), a system, a vehicle (), a method (), a computer program () and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium () are disclosed. The apparatus () comprises a processing means and a memory means for storing at least one setting of the vehicle () for at least one user. The apparatus () is configured to determine that access into a vehicle () has been granted in dependence on a first primary identifier having been received from a first primary electronic device (A) and determine that a first secondary identifier corresponding to a first user of the vehicle () has been received from a first secondary electronic device (). The apparatus () is also configured to, in dependence on determining that the first secondary identifier has been received from the first secondary electronic device () and that access into the vehicle has been granted in dependence on the first primary identifier having been received from the first primary electronic device (A), enable storing of a setting of the vehicle () for the first user.

Apparatus and method for enabling storing of a user input vehicle setting

The present invention relates to a vehicle access system () having a tracking means () for tracking a positional movement pattern of a user (D) relative to a vehicle (). A controller () is provided for controlling the opening and/or closing of a vehicle opening (). The controller () communicates with a storage device () and the tracking means (). The controller () has a comparator () for comparing the positional movement pattern with one or more pre-defined movement maps stored in the storage device (). The controller is configured to open the vehicle opening when the comparator () determines that the positional movement pattern corresponds to a first of the pre-defined movement maps. Alternatively, or in addition the controller can be configured to close the vehicle opening when the comparator () determines that the positional movement pattern corresponds to a second of said pre-defined movement maps. The invention also relates to a method of opening/closing a vehicle opening.

A method for determining the charge in a battery which comprises providing a main battery and a auxiliary battery. The method then comprises connecting the main battery to an electrical load; measuring I, the current drawn from the main battery while it is connected to the electrical load; connecting the auxiliary battery in parallel with the main battery and the electrical load; measuring I, the current drawn from the main battery while it is connected to the electrical load and the auxiliary battery; and estimating the state of charge in the auxiliary battery based upon at least the difference between Iand I.

Embodiments of the invention provide a motor vehicle system, the system being operable to provide that provides a visual indication of the position relative to the vehicle of one or more obstacles that lie in the vicinity of the vehicle, predicts a path of a vehicle by reference to a position of a steering wheel or steerable road wheel of the vehicle, and determines whether any obstacles in the vicinity of the vehicle lie in the predicted path by reference to data regarding the location of such obstacles. If the system determines that one or more obstacles lie in the predicted path the system provides an audible indication of a distance any such obstacles from the vehicle according to a distance from the vehicle.

Motor vehicle system and method

An intelligent emergency braking system for a vehicle includes a camera, an ultrasonic transceiver of a parking aid system, and a computer. The camera is configured to provide captured image data, and the transceivers are configured to provide transceiver data. The computer processes the image and transceiver data and invokes automatic braking if the following conditions exist: the confidence with which the computer calculates that a detected object is a person or is an object vehicle exceeds a first predetermined level, and the ultrasonic transceiver provides the computer with transceiver data consistent with the object detected through the captured image data.

A method for controlling an electrical system in a vehicle. The electrical system () comprises: at least a first switch (ES) arranged such that operating the switches will isolate a part of the electrical system; and a control unit, the control unit being arranged to operate the switches. The method comprises: putting the control unit into a first operational mode, the first operational mode comprising at least a first arrangement of switches; receiving a request to enter a second operational mode, the second operational mode comprising at least a second arrangement of switches; determining the priority of the first and second operational modes at least in part by consulting a database of operational modes and their priorities; switching the control unit into the second operational mode if the second operational mode has a higher priority than the first operational mode; and continuing in the first operational mode otherwise.

Method for controlling an electrical system in a vehicle

A dynamic route finding system for a follower vehicle comprises a display, for disposition inside the vehicle, a navigation system, employing satellite position sensing for the vehicle, a storage device, including map data of a given territory, and an input system for the navigation system to input the location of a potentially dynamic destination of a subject (vehicle), wherein the navigation system is arranged to permit dynamic updating of the destination through said input system whilst guiding the user towards the subject from its current position. The input system may comprise an optical sensor, for front-facing disposition in the vehicle; a computer, to display on the display images captured by the optical sensor; and a user interface, enabling user commands to be input to the computer, the computer being arranged dynamically to calculate the position of a subject that is captured as an image by the optical sensing means, that has been displayed on the display, and that has been selected by the user, and to input said position as the dynamic destination of the navigation system. The input system may also comprise a telephone transceiver capable of wireless communication with another telephone, whereby the navigation system and a subject telephone may be interconnected and through which the subject telephone, when provided with a requisite application and a GPS position sensor, transmits the position of the subject telephone to the navigation system for use as the destination of the navigation system of said follower vehicle. The input system may also comprise a network of communication modules in multiple vehicles.
