The automatic completion of composite characters is supported by the generation of lists of candidate words or characters. Such lists may be generated by specifying letters or word shapes that are required to be included in candidate words or characters, independent of the order in which a specified letter or word shape is traditionally added to the completed word or character. In a subtractive mode, a user may exclude words or characters that include one or more letters or word shapes specified by the user.

The present invention is directed to document or file access control. In particular, embodiments of the present invention alter files that are obsolete, so that it is apparent to a user that an updated version of the file should be obtained. Accordingly, files that are subject to revisions can be stored locally, to provide fast and convenient access to such files, with assurance that notice will be provided to a user if the locally stored version of a file becomes obsolete. Furthermore, the invention allows files stored locally that have become obsolete to be identified automatically. The alteration of obsolete files may include the placement of a watermark on or embedded in such files to provide an obvious indication to a user that the file is obsolete.

The present invention is directed to avoiding the unintentional release of sensitive or proprietary information. According to embodiments of the present invention, the content of a message is analyzed to determine whether delivery of that content to an address associated with the message is appropriate. This analysis may be performed in connection with Bayesian content analysis algorithms. The present invention may also analyze whether addresses associated with a message are appropriate for receiving that message by analyzing whether those addresses belong to the same or compatible groups. If a message is determined to be inappropriate for delivery to an associated address, delivery of that message is modified. Such modification may include delaying delivery until confirmation that delivery is to be completed is received from the user or some other authority.

In order to access the stored file, the recipient of the message is required to select the provided link, which establishes a secure communication channel between the secure storage device and the receiving client computer. In data provided by an application on a first host for transport or communication to an application associated with a second host according to a first data transport protocol is intercepted at the first host and wrapped or encapsulated in a test data packet formatted according to a second data transport protocol.
