A cable comprising a covering having two or more different sheath layers, with the covering providing superior chemical and weathering resistance, and excellent surface feel. In a preferred embodiment, the outermost sheath layer of the covering is a thermoplastic elastomer essentially free of a flame retardant material, yet the covering achieves desirable flame retardant performance due to the presence of an inner sheath layer comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and a flame retardant, preferably halogen-free flame retardant. The outermost sheath layer also exhibits sought-after surface qualities. Methods for producing the coverings and flame retardant cables are disclosed.

A method for joining a flexible tube to a connector having a female fitting that allows relatively facile connection and desirable retention force in a short amount of time. Tube assemblies having a tube bonded to the female fitting of the connector with a joining agent composition including an evaporable liquid hydrocarbon are disclosed.

Methods for forming a tube assembly utilizing a joining agent

Thermoplastic elastomer compositions, in particular derived from one or more styrenic block copolymers wherein at least one styrenic block copolymer comprises a controlled distribution copolymer block including a conjugated diene and a mono alkenyl arene, a plurality of biorenewable materials, preferably a softener and one or more synergistic additives such as a polar polymer; a synergistic block copolymer such as a relatively high molecular weight styrenic block copolymer; and/or filler. Numerous desirable articles can be formed from the compositions. Processes for preparing the compositions and articles are disclosed.

Thermoplastic elastomer compositions having biorenewable content

Thermoplastic elastomer compositions, in particular derived from one or more styrenic block copolymers, a relatively high molecular weight isobutylene-containing (co)polymer, and a biorenewable processing aid. The isobutylene-containing (co)polymer imparts desirable oxygen barrier performance to the composition and the biorenewable processing aid acts as a barrier synergist as well as a processing aid useful during compounding. Low oxygen permeability sealing elements can be formed from the compositions. Processes for preparing the compositions and sealing elements are disclosed.

Sealing element compositions having biorenewable content

An expandable hose assembly that is able to expand one or more of longitudinally along the length-wise axis of the hose between hose ends and radially, to an expanded state in response to application of at least a minimum fluid pressure to an inner tube of the hose. Once the fluid pressure falls below the minimum fluid pressure, the hose will contract. The hose includes a thermoplastic elastomer inner layer and a slip coating layer thereon having lubricating properties that increases the life of the hose assembly. The hose assembly can include an outer sheath or covering that covers the inner tube and slip coating layer.

Multi-layer expandable hose

Thermoplastic elastomer compositions having a desirable soft touch feel to skin, and in particular grip, especially during wet, soapy and humid conditions. In one embodiment, the composition is part of a composite system, wherein the composition is connected, for example molded, overmolded or co-extruded to a substrate, such as a thermoplastic, glass or metal. The compositions and composites are suitable for use wherever desirable feel and grip are needed, such as handles or grips of household or industrial items.

A tube assembly including a flexible tube joined to a connector with the tube having an insert liner located therein at least in an area of a distal end of the connector that provides improved retention force between the tube and connector. Methods for preparing the tube assembly are disclosed and include the use of adhesives or solvent for bonding the tube to the connector.

Halogen free flame retardant thermoplastic elastomer compositions including a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer having relatively high styrene or mono alkenyl arene content and styrene or mono alkenyl arene in each block. Surprisingly, the compositions contain low amounts or are free of plasticizing softeners. The compositions include a blend of non-halogen flame retardants including a liquid phosphorous-containing component and a solid secondary component. The compositions are suitable for extrusion or molding and are useful for films or wire and cable applications.

Low softener halogen free flame retardant styrenic block copolymer-based thermoplastic elastomer compositions

An adhesive system including a cyanoacrylate adhesive composition having a polymerization retarder that slows the polymerization rate of the cyanoacrylate, increases the lubricity to achieve proper assembly and aids in achieving desirable bonding properties of the adhesive; and a phosphorous-based primer that assists in preparing the components to be bonded. Methods of connecting dissimilar materials, preferably those used in medical applications, utilizing the adhesive system and the resulting adhered assemblies are disclosed.

An adhesive system including a synergistic combination of a light curable silicone-containing adhesive composition and an amine-containing primer composition that provides desirable bond strength between two articles preferably one of the articles including a polyolefin or polyolefin-based thermoplastic elastomer. Methods of connecting articles, preferably those utilized in fluid transfer applications, utilizing the adhesive system and the resulting adhered assemblies are disclosed.

Curable adhesive system, method of assembly of distinct components therewith

Polyolefin based sealing element compositions with good oxygen barrier properties particularly suitable for forming sealing elements, for example gaskets and cap liners that are especially useful for sealing containers having products such as liquids or food-stuffs therein. The compositions when formed as sealing elements do not appreciably contribute taste and/or odor to a packaged product including the sealing element. The compositions have desirable rheological properties and are thus readily processable at various temperatures.
