The present disclosure provides techniques for measuring and compensating for clock drift errors in time-aware networks and time-sensitive applications, where a time-aware system (TAS) measures clock drift, and compensates for the measured clock drift, and makes predictions of future clock drift values based on history and other physical measurements. Existing messages used for measuring link delay and/or used for time synchronization can be used for frequency measurement (and thus clock drift measurement), and this measured drift can be applied as a correction factor whenever synchronization is determined and/or used. The predicted clock drift rate can be based on various probability distributions including linear, Kalman filters, and/or others. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Methods and apparatus for Time-Sensitive Networking Coordinated Transfer Learning in industrial settings are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, instructions in the apparatus, and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to cause performance of an operation by a first machine according to a first configuration, process a performance metric of the performance of the operation by the first machine to determine whether the performance metric is within a threshold range, and in response to a determination that the performance metric is not within the threshold range, cause performance of the operation by a second machine according to a second configuration different from the first configuration.

Detecting clock synchronization attacks in time sensitive networks using key performance indicators

Various approaches for coordinating edge computing transactions are described, based on the generation and verification of fine-grained timestamp values among distributed computing entities in an edge computing system. In an edge computing system, an edge computing device performs operations to obtain transaction data, a timestamp, and a timestamp signature for a transaction, with the timestamp generated from a secure (and attestable) timestamp procedure that is coordinated with another entity (including via a network-coordinated timestamp synchronization). This timestamp is verified by the device based on the timestamp signature and the transaction data for the transaction, and the transaction is conducted (e.g., using a value of the timestamp) at the device or elsewhere in the system based on successful verification. In further examples, the coordinated timestamp enables multi-version concurrency control (MVCC) database transactions, verification of blockchain transactions, or other uses and verifications of timestamp values.

Decentralized edge computing transactions with fine-grained time coordination

Systems and methods of generating a synchronized media content presentation using a plurality of media output systems communicably coupled to a respective plurality of network connected platforms are provided. A first network connected platform receives an IEEE 802.1AS master timing signal generated by 'Grand Master' timing circuitry disposed in a second network connected platform. IEEE 802.1AS application service circuitry disposed in the first network connected platform determines an offset between a local timing signal and the receive master timing signal. Talker circuitry disposed in the first network connected platform synchronizes a media content presentation to the master timing signal and communicates a media/master timing signal synchronization signal to each of the network connected platforms. The media/master timing signal synchronization signal includes data representative of a media start location and a media start time referenced to the master timing signal.

Multi-output synchronization

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to fine timing measurement (FTM) time synchronization and location estimation. A device may determine a FTM request received from an initiator device, wherein the first FTM request comprises a first trigger field. The device may determine to establish a first FTM session with the initiator device based on the first trigger field. The device may identify a second FTM request received from the initiator device, wherein the second FTM request comprises a second trigger field. The device may determine to establish a second FTM session with the initiator device based on the first trigger field and the second trigger field.

Fine timing measurement for time synchronization

Techniques to output a media stream, capture a media stream, or synchronize the output or capture of the media stream at a specified time are described. A media stream output or capture apparatus may include a media processor to receive a media stream to output or a request to capture a media stream and a start time. A buffer generator may be included to generate an input or an output buffer and a media mixer may be included to mix the media stream into the output buffer at the start time or capture the media stream from the input buffer at the start time.

Hardware assisted media playback and capture synchronization

An apparatus for time aware audio streams is described herein. The apparatus includes a converter and an alignment unit. The converter is to perform sample rate conversion of data from a first clock to a second clock. The alignment unit is to indicate valid sample points in the data based on a relationship between the first clock and the second clock.

A method and apparatus for synchronizing time between a master device and a target device arranged across a network, wherein the target device communicates to the master device through a PCIe interconnect includes transmitting a first message at a first time from the master device to the target device, the first message including a message indicator; and receiving a reply message at a subsequent time from the target device to the master device, the reply message including the message indicator.

Mechanism for clock synchronization

An embodiment may include circuitry to determine, at least in part, whether to delay transmission, at least in part, of at least one frame in favor of transmitting at least one other frame. The at least one other frame may belongs to at least one packet stream that is associated with at least one bandwidth reservation. The transmission of the at least one frame may be timed to occur prior to the transmitting of the at least one other frame. The at least one frame, at the time that it is selected for transmission, may have a relatively higher transmission priority than a relatively lower transmission priority of the at least one other frame. An embodiment may include circuitry that may facilitate, at least in part, assignment, at least in part, of at least one bandwidth reservation for at least one packet stream and/or at least one stream reservation class. The at least one bandwidth reservation may be greater than an expected communication bandwidth of the at least one packet stream. The assignment of the at least one bandwidth reservation may be made prior to commencement of communication of the at least one packet stream. The at least one bandwidth reservation may be assigned exclusively to the at least one packet stream and/or the at least one stream reservation class. Many modifications, variations, and alternatives are possible without departing from this embodiment.

Reducing the maximum latency of reserved streams

A system and method for synchronizing simultaneous media stream playback across disjoint network timing/clock islands. An embodiment of a method includes determining a closest device to a source device in a network communications path between the source device and one or more target devices. Here, clocks of the closest device and the one or more target devices are synchronized and a clock of the source device is not necessarily synchronized with the clocks of the closest device and the one or more target devices. A current time for the closest device is then determined. A start time is assigned to at least the current time plus a maximum latency across the network communications path. A data stream and the start time are sent to the one or more target devices for rendering. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

System and method for synchronizing simultaneous media stream playback across nonsynchronized network timing/clock islands

Techniques are disclosed for synchronizing multiple clock sources of a system, and may include: determining time of a first clock at a first and second time instants; determining time of a second clock at a third time instant occurring between the first and second time instants, and a fourth time instant occurring after the second time instant; and determining a clock offset between the first and second clocks based on the determined times. The first and/or second clocks may be adjusted based on the clock offset to synchronize clock operation. This adjusting can be used, for instance, to synchronize operation of an audio and/or video component operating according to the first clock with an audio and/or video component operating according to the second clock. The techniques may further include determining if the clock offset is valid (e.g., based on detection of perturbing events or difference between a clock's times).
