A system and method for extracting and separating botanical oils and compounds from botanical material without the use of solvents, having a vaporizing section which is further coupled to a centrifugal electrostatic precipitator for collection and segregation. The vaporizing section receives the botanical material through which a temperature-controlled inert gas is passed to evaporate specific vaporization temperature oils or compounds from the botanical material. The extracted vapor passes to the centrifugal electrostatic precipitator where the oil or compound is reduced back to the liquid state and is collected and segregated. The oils having the lower vapor temperature are collected first and the remaining oils are collected by specific and progressive vaporization temperature control. In some examples, selected vaporized compounds are waste exhausted as vapor by bypassing the centrifugal electrostatic precipitator at specific known vapor temperatures, thereby eliminating potentially toxic or undesirable oils or compounds from being collected.

System and method for extracting and separating botanical oils without the use of solvents

A system and a method for producing silicon from a SiO-containing material that includes solid SiO. The method uses a reaction vessel including a first section and a second section in fluid communication with said first section. The method includes: heating the SiO-containing material that includes the solid SiOto a SiO-containing material that includes liquid SiO, at a sufficient temperature to convert the solid SiOinto the liquid SiO; converting, in the first section, the liquid SiOinto gaseous SiOthat flows to the second section by reducing the pressure in the reaction vessel to a subatmospheric pressure; and reducing, in the second section, the gaseous SiOinto liquid silicon using a reducing gas. The reducing of the pressure is performed over a continuous range of interim pressure(s) sufficient to evaporate contaminants from the SiO-containing material, and removing by vacuum, the one or more evaporated gaseous contaminants.

There is described a method for and system for starting at least one engine from a twin engine installation. The starting system comprises a first engine arrangement comprising a first electric machine having a single rotor dual stator configuration, a first dual channel power control unit coupled to the first electric machine, and a first dual channel full authority digital engine control (FADEC) coupled to the first dual channel power control unit; a second engine arrangement comprising a second electric machine having a single rotor dual stator configuration, a second dual channel power control unit coupled to the second electric machine, and a second dual channel full authority digital engine control (FADEC) coupled to the second dual channel power control unit; an energy storage unit coupled to the first engine arrangement and the second engine arrangement and having at least a first super-capacitor and a second super-capacitor; and a DC to DC converter configured to receive a first voltage level from a power source, increase the first voltage level to a second voltage level, and charge the first super-capacitor and the second super-capacitor to the second voltage level.

The system comprises an electric machine having a single rotor coupled to a dual channel stator comprising a first stator and a second stator, for operating as a motor to generate motive power; a dual channel motor drive unit coupled to the electric machine; a dual channel full authority digital engine control (FADEC) coupled to the dual channel motor drive unit; an oil delivery system comprising an oil pump and oil accessories, coupled to the single rotor of the electric machine; and a fuel delivery system comprising a fuel pump and fuel accessories, coupled to the single rotor of the electric machine.

A method of controlling a flow of a fuel mixture of different types of fuel in a gas turbine engine is described which includes determining a combustive energy value of an input of the fuel mixture in the engine, extracting fuel schedule data from a fuel schedule established for a reference fuel, determining a desired fuel mixture flow rate by adapting the fuel schedule data to the fuel mixture based on the combustive energy value, and controlling a fuel metering device of the engine such that the fuel mixture flow rate corresponds to the desired fuel mixture flow rate.

A multi spool gas turbine engine with a differential having a selectively rotatable member which rotational speed determines a variable ratio between rotational speeds of driven and driving members of the differential. The driven member is engaged to the first spool and a rotatable shaft independent of the other spools (e.g. connected to a compressor rotor) is engaged to the driving member. First and second power transfer devices are engaged to the first spool and the selectively rotatable member, respectively. A circuit interconnects the power transfer devices and allows a power transfer therebetween, and a control unit controls the power being transferred between the power transfer devices. Power can thus be transferred between the first spool and the selectively rotatable member to change the speed ratio between the first spool and the rotatable shaft.

The system includes: at least one pressure fluctuation generator, at least one pressure sensor located to sense pressure indicative of the interior of the structure; and at least one controller configured to: determine, from the first pressure sensor information, at least one pressure disturbance within the interior of the structure; and control the at least one pressure fluctuation generator to cancel the at least one pressure disturbance within the interior of the structure. In an example, the at least one pressure disturbance includes infrasonic pressure fluctuations (infrasound). In an example, the physiological affliction includes motion sickness or nauseogenicity.

There is described a method and system for starting at least one engine from a twin engine installation having a first engine arrangement and a second engine arrangement. The method comprises receiving a first voltage level from a power source and increasing the first voltage level to a second voltage level; charging an energy storage unit having at least a first super-capacitor and a second super-capacitor to the second voltage level; selectively connecting one of the first super-capacitor and the second super-capacitor to a first power control unit in the first engine arrangement; controlling a discharge current to a first electric machine in the first engine arrangement via the first power control unit; and rotating a rotor of the first electric machine to an above engine idle speed to start a first engine of the twin engine installation.
