The present invention provides a disposal splash guard that enables water flowing into the disposal splash guard to be directed through peripheral openings in the disposal splash guard. The disposal splash guard comprises a body and a baffle. A size of the peripheral openings is operable to direct water flowing into the disposal splash guard through the peripheral openings in the baffle. At least one of a shape of the body and a shape of the baffle is operable to direct water flowing into the disposal splash guard through the peripheral openings in the baffle. At least one of a size of the peripheral openings, a shape of the body, and a shape of the baffle is operable to direct at least ten percent of water flowing into the disposal splash guard through the peripheral openings in the baffle.

A disposal with above sink installation where the disposal can be inserted through a drain opening in a basin from above the basin. The disposal includes a housing, a grind assembly, a motor assembly, and a mount assembly. The mount assembly is operable to mount the housing to the drain opening in the basin. The mount assembly includes a flange and a securing mechanism. A diameter of the outer surface of the housing is less than a diameter of the drain opening in the basin. The housing is operable to be inserted through the drain opening in the basin from the top surface of the floor of the basin. The housing is operable to be secured to the drain opening in the basin from the bottom surface of the floor of the basin.

The present invention provides a disposal with sensor and light system where a sensor detects a presence of a user in one area near the disposal and a light illuminates another area near the disposal.
