Disclosed are an electronic device and method for providing an event management service. The method for providing an event management service in an electronic device according to the present invention comprises the steps of: carrying out communication with a plurality of external devices; checking at least one of the communication connection state with the plurality of external devices and the state information of the plurality of external devices on the basis of packet information received from the plurality of external devices, and determining whether an event has occurred with respect to the external devices; when it is determined that an event has occurred from one of the plurality of external devices, generating event information on the external device for which an event has occurred and transmitting the event information to a management server; and when solution information for the event information is received from the management server, carrying out a processing operation for the event on the basis of the solution information. Accordingly, an electronic device can manage issues that arise during a process in which a communication connection is made between the electronic device and a low-specification external device.
