A method, system, and computer readable medium are disclosed for a Self Organizing Network (SON) assisted optimized Radio Access Technology (RAT) selection for a User Equipment (UE) in a virtualized Radio Access Network (RAN) environment. In one embodiment a method includes establishing, by a UE, a Signaling Radio Bearer (SRB) and a Data Radio Bearer (DRB) with a virtualized node (VENB); determining whether the VENB has reached a data saturation limit; when the VENB has reached the data saturation limit, then determining if a virtualized function (VRNC) has reached a data saturation limit; and when the VRNC is determined not to have reached the data saturation limit, then initiating an Long Term Evolution (LTE) to 3G handover procedure for the UE and specifying a target 3G cell.

SON assisted optimized RAT selection for UE in a virtualized RAN environment

Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for a Self Organizing Network (SON) Radio Access Technology (RAT) selection for User Equipment (UE) in a virtualized Radio Access Network (RAN) environment. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed, comprising: establishing, by the UE, a Signaling Radio Bearer (SRB) and at least one Data Radio Bearer (DRB) with a Virtual node (Vnode); determining, by the SON, whether the Vnode has reached a data saturation limit; when the Vnode has reached the data saturation limit, then determining whether there is another RAT Vnode which can provide better data throughput; and when there is another RAT Vnode which can provide better data throughput, then initiating a handover procedure for the UE and specifying a target cell located in a same geographic area.

SON assisted RAT selection for UE in a virtualized RAN environment

A method, computer-readable medium and system are presented for providing prioritized connectivity service based on geography using a HetNet Gateway (HNG). In one embodiment, the method includes specifying a location and time where an event will take place; specifying a User Equipment (UE) prioritization to be used for the event; generating a prioritization profile for the event; providing prioritization for the event based on the prioritization profile; and monitoring prioritization during the event and taking remedial actions when the prioritization performance is not met.

Prioritized connectivity service based on geography using HNG

A method is disclosed, comprising: configuring, based on hardware characteristics of a radio access device, a first security certificate; setting up a first encrypted tunnel with a first security server using the first security certificate, the first security server configured to grant permission via the first security certificate for obtaining a second security certificate providing access to an operator core network; tearing down the first encrypted tunnel; and setting up a second encrypted tunnel to a second security server within the operator core network using the second security certificate, the second encrypted tunnel configured to allow the radio access device to securely communicate with the operator core network for providing connectivity for user devices to the operator core network, wherein the first encrypted tunnel and the second encrypted tunnel to use a single transport port to obtain the second security certificate via the first encrypted tunnel.
