A method, apparatus and system for sharing a local oscillator in a satellite signal delivery system is disclosed. A system in accordance with the present invention comprises a first set of satellite signals broadcast in a first frequency band, wherein the first set of satellite signals is downconverted to a first intermediate frequency band of signals, a second set of satellite signals broadcast in a second frequency band, wherein the second set of satellite signals is downconverted to a second intermediate frequency band of signals and a third intermediate frequency band of signals using the shared local oscillator, a first signal stacker for stacking the second intermediate frequency band of signals and the third intermediate frequency band of signals into a stacked signal, a second signal stacker for stacking the first intermediate frequency band of signals with the stacked signal into a delivery signal, a distribution unit, coupled to the combiner, for distributing the delivery signal to a plurality of outputs, and at least one receiver, coupled to an output of the plurality of outputs, wherein the at least one receiver processes at least the first intermediate band of signals in the delivery signal.

A method, apparatus and system providing power to Low Noise Block Amplifiers (LNBs) in a satellite signal receiving system wherein at least one receiver provides power to the LNBs. A system in accordance with the present invention comprises a first stage of power regulation, coupled to the at least one receiver in a respective fashion, wherein the first stage of power regulation comprises linear regulation, and a second stage of power regulation, coupled between the first stage of power regulation and the LNBs, wherein the second stage of power regulation comprises a switching power regulator. Another embodiment of the present invention comprises a first stage of power regulation, coupled to the at least one receiver in a respective fashion, wherein the first stage of power regulation comprises a switching power regulator, and a second stage of power regulation, coupled between the first stage of power regulation and the LNBs, wherein the second stage of power regulation comprises a linear regulator.

The first, second, and third IF bands of signals are all present in a combined IF signal on a cable.

Grounding block are provided for grounding a coaxial cable. The grounding block includes first and second block portions connected together such that the portions are movable between open and closed positions to receive a coaxial cable within a recess between the block portions. The block portions include cutting elements having a shape for penetrating an outer jacket of the cable to contact a shield layer thereof without cutting into a dielectric layer of the cable. A grounding wire is coupled to the grounding block for grounding the shield layer.

A system and method for positioning a dish antenna having a plurality of low noise block converters for the simultaneous reception of signals from a plurality of satellites in a direct broadcast satellite system. An integrated receiver/decoder alternately powers at least two low noise block converters to sample signals for comparison to a threshold value to detect a peak signal for each of the low noise block converters. When the peak signals are detected, they are compared to a master threshold to indicate a master lock for the system.

A system and method for positioning a dish antenna having a plurality of low noise block converters for the simultaneous reception of signals from a plurality of satellites in a direct broadcast satellite system. An integrated receiver/decoder alternately powers at least two low noise block converters to sample signals for comparison to a dynamic threshold value to detect a peak signal for each of the low noise block converters. When the peak signals are detected, they are compared to a dynamic master threshold to indicate a master lock for the system.

A multiple-room communication system is adapted to provide digital television programming (e.g. DBS) to a plurality of rooms in a single family dwelling and may be further adapted to provide digital television programming to a plurality of dwelling units in a multiple dwelling unit such as an apartment. A central unit includes a plurality of integrated receiver decoder modules that receive e.g. satellite signals from a satellite antenna and filter and supply the signals to a distribution system that is coupled to a plurality of display devices that are located in various rooms throughout the single family home. A plurality of hand-held remote controllers, each being associated with one of the integrated receiver decoder modules, are used to communicate with and control the associated integrated receiver decoder module to cause it to supply a desired signal to a desired display device. Each of the remote controllers are adapted to ensure exclusive communication with the associated integrated receiver decoder module and to prevent interference with the operation of the other integrated receiver decoder modules. A single power supply is used to power the co-located integrated receiver decoder modules, and a single modem is used to report billing information to the satellite provider.
