A method to detect hardware and software errors in an embedded system is disclosed. The method includes: detecting or measuring, by a plurality of sensors, an operating state of the embedded system; operating a plurality of replicated computation engines in group synchrony, wherein the plurality of replicated computation engines are replicated instances of a single computation engine and wherein the plurality of replicated computation engines are grouped into one or more groups such that, for each group, each member of the group starts in a same processing logic state and processes same events in the same order; intercepting output of the plurality of sensors and transmitting the output to each replicated computation engine of a group in a defined order; and actuating selected computation engines of the plurality of replicated computation engines and arbitrating between outputs of the selected computation engines.

Software handling of errors

A system and method enables loosely-coupled lock-step computing including sensors that detect or measure a physical property and server groups. Each server group is serially linked to another server group and includes server instances operating in virtual synchrony. Virtual synchrony middleware receives outputs from multiple server instances and renders a single reply based on the outputs from the multiple server instances. The virtual synchrony middleware replicates and orders incoming requests to the server groups to ensure each of the server instances of that server group receives the same incoming requests in the same order.

Loosely-coupled lock-step chaining

A system and method that detects hardware and software errors in an embedded system that includes detecting or measuring an operating state; causing one or more computation engines to operates in group synchrony; causing one or more active monitors that monitor the computation engines to an automotive integrity level to operate in group synchrony; synchronizing the communication between and from the plurality of computation engines and the plurality of active monitors, respectively; and arbitrating the output generated by the computation engines and the active monitors.

Software handling of hardware errors

There is disclosed a system method for deploying and licensing wireless communication device computer software infrastructure. In an embodiment, the method comprises: licensing at least one compiled feature-provisioning computer program with a disclosed application program interface (API) to a licensee that is a manufacturer or distributor or seller of wireless communication devices; using the disclosed API to integrate such licensed program into wireless communication devices as offered to end users; configuring the wireless communication devices to provide notification of initial activation of the licensed program by an end user or licensee, thereby triggering collection of licensor revenue based on use of the licensed program by the end user of the device; and sharing collected licensor revenue with a licensee of the program in accordance with a revenue sharing arrangement.

Method and apparatus for deploying and licensing wireless communication device computer software infrastructure to manufacturers

A system and method are provided for monitoring utilization of network resources in a photonic network. A monitoring threshold is set for monitoring utilization of network components of interest. A resource utilization data processor obtains resource utilization data indicating utilization of the network resources. A threshold crossing determination unit determines if threshold crossing has occurred based on the utilization data and the monitoring threshold. A user interface indicates the utilization of the network components in accordance with the determination of the threshold crossing.

Method and system for monitoring network resources utilization

After market vending of feature-provisioning software to qualified third party mobile wireless communication devices is facilitated by providing a joint software vending machine website capable of authenticating the device and wireless service provider and downloading and activating only software appropriate to that particular user device and wireless network service provider. The exemplary system provides device/user qualification and/or authentication as well as device provisioning for mobile wireless communication devices that may be manufactured by different vendors for different purposes and serviced by different wireless network service providers via a wireless infrastructure which includes a communication data relay service provider.
