A method and system are provided for implementing enhanced network device identifying and labeling via a connected Ethernet cable. A system includes a server having a port connected by the Ethernet cable to a port of a switch. An Ethernet runt packet containing metadata identifying the server name and the port is transmitted on the Ethernet cable by the server. Another Ethernet runt packet containing metadata identifying the switch name and the port is transmitted on the Ethernet cable by the switch. Use of the transmitted metadata of the Ethernet runt packets enables dynamically identifying and labeling the Ethernet cable, the connected server and port and switch and port.

A consumption device may be detected by a processor. At least one property of the consumption device may be determined. Based on that property, a power configuration for the consumption device may be determined. The processor may permit a finite electrical cell associated with the processor to power the consumption device according to that power configuration.

In an approach for automated vehicle authorization. A processor receives a first set of credentials from at least a first near field communication device, wherein the first set of credentials indicates information about a person. A processor receives a second set of credentials from at least a second near field communication device, wherein the second set of credentials indicates information about a vehicle. A processor compares the first set of credentials to the second set of credentials. A processor determines whether the person indicated by the first set of credentials has authority to operate the vehicle, based on, at least, the comparison of the first set of credentials to the second set of credentials.

A vehicle can be controlled based on feedback from a driver of the vehicle when a mobile device is connected to a computer system. A profile for a driver can be used. The system can receive data about the driver from the mobile device. The data and answers can be sent to a natural language processing (NLP) system for analysis. The NLP system can return a determination that the user is cognitively disengaged, and thus unable to safely drive the vehicle. The system can then control the vehicle.

An approach is provided in which a public protection system sends a data collection request to user devices located within a geographical proximity of an incident in progress that instructs the user devices to capture real-time data corresponding to the incident in progress. The public protection system receives the real-time data from the user devices and determines that a set of the real-time data includes evidence data corresponding to the incident in progress.

A method of accessing a network wirelessly is described. In the method an authentication is provided to access the network from a wireless device to a first network node via a first wireless signal having a first range. A proximity validation is provided to access the network through the first network node. The proximity validation is provided to the first network node when the wireless device is within a second range of a second wireless signal of a second network node. The second range is less than the first range. The method further provides for accessing the network when both the authentication and the proximity validation are valid.

Proximity based dual authentication for a wireless network

A method and implementing computer system are provided in which a smart power strip is controlled by a master device which is also plugged-into the power strip. In an exemplary implementation, a computer or PC operates as a master device and a direct line of communication from the computer allows the OS to make a decision based on settings whether or not to power on or off individual power outlets on the power strip used in common by the computer and various peripheral devices. Thus, only selected peripheral devices are powered-on along with the computer when the computer or other master device is powered-on at a common power strip.
