The invention presented is a die filling apparatus that includes a unique powder feed assembly that includes a novel plurality of vertically stacked drive gear-feed gear pairs that move filling powder through a series of sieves into a die used for compressing powder into a tablet. At least the bottom feed gear includes a plurality of logarithmic vanes or blades with an offset axis of rotation. Also presented is a method to fabricate pellets from powder using an apparatus to form a pellet.

Apparatus for die filling

A method testing physical properties of bulk powder materials uses acceleration forces induce a change in physical configuration of a powder sample. Various different properties may be determined by relationships between the applied acceleration and the associated detected change in configuration event. In various embodiments powder strength, friction angle, or other properties may be determined. Novel methods and devices are provided.

Device and method to measure bulk unconfined properties of powders

The subject invention provides advantageous systems and processes for anaerobic digestion of organic waste streams, particularly agricultural waste streams. According to this invention, a new process is provided in which a liquid fraction from an organic waste stream comprising soluble compounds is segregated and incubated in a reactor separate from the solids fraction of the organic waste stream. Digestion of waste in both reactors occurs substantially simultaneously and both reactors produce biogas (thus both reactors function essentially like single stage reactors but allow for continuous or intermittent loading). According to one aspect of the invention, at least one cross-flow baffle is provided for use in an anaerobic digester to collect biogas and break up clumped solids in the reactor. In another aspect of the invention, packing media for use in an anaerobic digester is provided.

System for anaerobic digestion of solid and soluble organic wastes, by-products and residues

Methods and devices are provided to measure segregation in solid particulate mixtures. Light energy is projected through a transparent barrier and reflected off a surface of a mixture volume. The constituent fraction in the mixture is determined by analyzing the mixture reflected light as a combination of the constituents' known reflected light spectral contents and intensities. This is accomplished at multiple surface locations to provide constituent fraction data over the mixture volume surface.

Mixture segregation testing devices and methods

A method bulk strength of powders uses acceleration forces to compact the powder into a small conical test cell that is rotated at high speed. Once the material is consolidated to a prescribed condition, the rotation is stopped, the outlet of the cell is exposed, and the cell is rotated again at increasing acceleration until material freely exits the cell. The forces generated on the powder in the cell are determined and used to compute the cohesive strength of the bulk material.
