Embodiments of the present invention relate to compositions that can be used as emulsifiable concentrates in the agriculture industry. In one aspect, a composition comprises (a) 5 weight percent or more of a compound soluble in at least one of N,N-dialkyl fatty amide, an aromatic ketone, an alkyl ketone, a cyclic ketone, or an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent; and (b) an ether ketone solvent according to Formula 1, as described herein, wherein Ris a linear or branched alkyl group having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein Ris CHor CHCH, wherein x is 0, 1, or 2, wherein Ris CHwhen Ris CH, and wherein Ris CHCHwhen Ris CHCH.

Emulsifiable concentrates

A prepolymer comprising an acid group is made by a process comprising the step of contacting: (i) a di-isocyanate, (ii) a polyol containing an acid group, and (iii) a polyol without an acid group, the contacting conducted under reaction conditions and in a solvent consisting essentially of: (A) a first component consisting essentially of at least one glycol ether ketone, and (B) optionally, a second component consisting of at least one aprotic glycol ether. The prepolymer is useful in the preparation of water-based polyurethane dispersions.
