A reel drag sound producing device is provided for producing sound in conjunction with a drag function of a dual-bearing reel having a reel unit with a main gear. The drag sound producing device includes a rotation member being disposed in the reel unit to be rotated unitarily with the main gear, a pivot shaft being disposed in the reel unit, a hitting member being disposed onto the pivot shaft and to be moved between a silent position and a sound producing position, a drive mechanism being configured to move the hitting member in a first direction between the sound producing position and the silent position in conjunction with rotation of the main gear in a fishing-line winding direction and moved in a radial direction for a predetermined distance, and an urging member being configured to urge the hitting member towards the sound producing position.

A fishing reel has a reel unit that is mounted on the fishing rod, a spool that is rotatably attached to the reel unit, a tension detector that detects tension applied to the said fishing line, and a communication portion that transmits to a fishing information display apparatus data of the tension applied to the fishing line detected by the tension detector. The fishing information display apparatus is provided externally of a fishing reel, and receives data communicated from the fishing reel. The fishing information display apparatus includes a body member, a display portion provided in the body member, a communication portion that receives from the fishing reel data of the tension applied to the fishing line, and a controller that is displays on the display portion the data of tension received from the fishing reel. A navigator away from an angler can certainly have information of the fishing situation.

A spool control unit includes a circuit board, a plurality of electric components, an external device connector, and an insulating film. The circuit board includes a printed circuit on a surface thereof. The plurality of electric components include a microcomputer that controls the fishing equipment through a control program, and are disposed on the circuit board such that they are electrically connected to the printed circuit. The external device connector is mounted on the circuit board such that it is electronically connected to the printed circuit, and serves to connect to an external device. The insulating film covers at least a portion of the circuit board as well as the electric components but does not cover the regions of the circuit board on which the external device connector is mounted.

A spool braking device for a dual bearing reel includes a spool brake unit, a spool control unit, and a tension detection unit that includes a rotational speed sensor. The spool control unit is arranged between a spool and a reel body, and it an electrically controllable unit that controls the spool. The tension detection unit detects the tension applied to fishing line that is released from the spool during casting. The spool control unit electrically controls the spool braking unit so that the spool braking unit brakes the spool with a first braking force of 50 to 100% of the maximum braking force during a first predetermined time period when the tension detected by the tension detection unit is at or below a first predetermined value.
