An ultrasonic flowmeter includes a transmission/reception means provided in a flow path for performing transmission/reception using a state change of fluid; repetition means for repeating the transmission/reception; time measurement means for measuring a time of propagation repeated by the repetition means; flow rate detection means for detecting a flow rate based on a value of the time measurement means; and number-of-times change means for changing to a predetermined number of repetition times. With such a structure, an influence caused by a variation of a flow can be suppressed by changing the number of repetition times so as to be suitable for a variation. As a result, reliable flow rate measurement with a high accuracy can be achieved.

Because the characteristics of a pair of ultrasonic transducer are equalized with each other, measuring accuracy of an ultrasonic flowmeter can be improved. Electrical connection from an electrode surface of a piezoelectric body to an external electrode is achieved not by soldering but by an electroconductive elastic body . As a result, variations of the frequency characteristics due to thermal load on the piezoelectric body can be reduced, and this makes it possible to obtain an ultrasonic transducer with uniform characteristics, and measuring accuracy of an ultrasonic flowmeter using a pair of the ultrasonic transducer can be improved.

A turntable having a food of solid or liquid put in a container is rotated during a predetermined time period and then the rotation of the turntable is suspended. After the turntable is suspended, an amplitude of vibration of the turntable is detected by a vibration sensor, and when the amplitude of vibration is a predetermined value or more, the food is determined liquid, on the other hand, when the amplitude of vibration is smaller than the predetermined value, the food is determined to be solid.

Solid/liquid determination apparatus

A temperature sensor for use in a heating apparatus is disclosed. The temperature sensor includes a rigid cylindrical body and upper and lower plates disposed at one end of the rigid cylindrical body. A first electrical insulator is interposed between the upper and lower plates and has a recess filled with a second electrical insulator, in which a hot junction of a thermocouple is buried. Since the respective components are just in contact with each other without any bonding therebetween, there arises no stress in the temperature sensor even at high temperatures. There is disclosed herein an automatic heating appliance for controlling heating of an object in response to operation of instruction keys and on the basis of the weight of an object to be heated. The appliance includes therein a heating chamber for housing the object, a heater provided on or in the heating chamber for heating the object placed therein, and a turntable provided in the heating chamber for keeping thereon the object during heating. Also included in the appliance are a weight detector for obtaining first weight data in response to the object being placed on the turntable and a temperature compensator for obtaining a second weight data in response to the object being placed thereon, the temperature compensator substantially having the same temperature characteristic as the weight detector. A control unit of the appliance is responsive to the first and second weight data in order to remove an error component due to variation of the characteristic of the weight detector by variation of temperature in accordance with the result of comparison between the first and second weight data so as to determine a weight resulting from only the object. The control unit controls the heating of the object in accordance with variation of the determined object weight.

A spacing frame hermetically secured to the first surface of the electrolyte plate surrounds the first electrode. The spacing frame has an opening. A sealing plate hermetically secured to the spacing frame defines a chamber in conjunction with the electrolyte plate and the spacing frame.
